    JOB SUMMARY:

     

    Emerging Technology Analyst will leverage technology solutions to meet the university's organizational needs. They do this by designing and implementing functional and cost-efficient technology systems. They prioritize user requirements and oversee system upgrades. Emerging Technology Analyst will communicate with stakeholders to understand their technical needs. They develop and analyze functional specifications, and they coordinate with developers to build and implement technology solutions.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

     

    Emerging Technology Analyst will design efficient technology systems that meet business and technology needs. They gather feedback from end-users about system performance and troubleshoot any issues that may arise. They integrate multiple systems and reconcile different teams’ needs and plans and oversee projects including an upgrade. They advise and provide technical training, remain aware of technology trends and developments, and make suggestions.

     

    COMPETENCIES:

     

    The Emerging Technology Analyst should have at least four years of general IT experience

     

    IN ADDITION TO:

     

    • Leading software and systems enhancements, including suggesting and prototyping new functionality.
    • Coordinating with external vendors in support of software and systems.
    • Planning for and maintaining technical work backlog and providing status reports to the leadership team.
    • Developing, grooming, and executing a product roadmap with your team.
    • Working with clients to understand existing business processes and contribute to new processes and system designs.
    • Working as an independent individual contributor and cooperative teammate.
    • Serving as subject matter expert and acting as a key resource of the assigned team.
    • Utilizing knowledge and skills to effect positive change in all areas of software and systems.
    • Providing subject matter expertise on software and systems setup, data integrity, business process design, security, report writing, and data analysis.
    • Developing user procedures, guidelines, and documentation on new processes and functionality.
    • Partnering with the Information Technology team to provide support to organizational projects.
    • Conducting research, leading projects, and participating as a hands-on contributor toward the successful implementation of various department initiatives.
    • Demonstrating high-level problem-solving techniques to identify issues and take corrective actions to resolve them.
    • Working closely with business stakeholders, marketing, change management, and operations teams to ensure your product's success.

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

     

    The employee may occasionally need to move equipment to various locations (20 lbs. or less).

     

    POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

     

    This position is a full-time position, Monday through Friday. Work hours are flexible, but generally, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. This position will require the candidate to come to the St, John’s Queens campus on a periodic basis. Ability to work a flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends, when necessary.

     

    REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

     

    Emerging Technology Analyst should have completed a bachelor’s degree program or higher in computer science, technology, or equivalent field. Non-bachelor’s degrees are accepted with 3 to 5 years of experience and relevant professional certifications.

     

    • Bachelor's or Graduate's Degree in business, information systems, computer science, or information technology.

     

    PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

     

    • Experience with JavaScript, SQL, Python, ML, and AI.
    • Experience with cloud service providers (e.g., AWS and Azure).
    • Experience with data visualization platforms (e.g., PowerBI and Tableau)
    • Fluency in business process analysis.
    • A leader and critical thinker.
    • Experience in a consultant role.
    • A collaborator and problem solver.

     

    _In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual salary range for this position is $80,000 - $90,000.  St. John’s University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. _

     

    This position may be relocated to any of St. John’s University’s physical locations at any time
