    DESIGN ENGINEER I

    Kogent Surgical is a rapidly growing medical device company with an immediate, full-time opening for qualified candidates in the field of surgical product development. Our experienced team has over 40 years of experience in the design, manufacturing, and quality control of neuro-surgical products.

    JOB SUMMARY:

    Kogent Surgical Design Engineer I responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    ·        Perform engineering research, design, and development

    ·        Conduct computational modeling and design; Utilize computational analysis techniques such as FEA to minimize design    defects prior to prototyping

    ·        Research customer needs, current solutions, and applicable technology; design solutions to customer needs

    ·        Responsible for design controls, including documenting design/developing planning, design input, output, review, transfer, changes, and design history file

    ·        Assist with the first-time setup and provide on-going support for new production systems and processes; Assist in troubleshooting manufacturing processes as needed

    ·        Design testing and inspection methods for quality control

    ·        A proficient and growing knowledge of medical device development including FDA quality system regulation, international regulation, safety agencies, quality system and industry standard practices

    ·        Identify and select parts and materials needed for production; coordinate with external suppliers and manufacturers as well as with purchasing department

    ·        Start and finish projects in accordance with a timeline and a budget

    JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    ·        A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

    ·        Highly self-motivated, self-directed, team oriented, and exceptionally attentive to detail

    ·        Demonstrated ability to respond to multiple priorities in a dynamic environment

    ·        Proficiency with Solidworks and CAD programs

    ·        Knowledge of materials and manufacturing methods

    ·        Troubleshooting skills in a manufacturing environment & creative problem solving skills

    ·        Ability in technical writing & ALL office software that pertains to the position 

    ·        Experience in a medical device research and development environment is a preferred
