    Lead Structural Engineer

    Minnetonka, MN | Direct-hire | $115,000-$130,000 | On-site 100%

    Konik is partnering with a local technical services and product design company with a focus on heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs). The Lead Structural Engineer is responsible for evaluation of structural components in existing HRSGs and other heat recovery boilers and structural design of systems and components of HRSGs and process heat recovery boilers.

    Lead Structural Engineer Responsibilities

    • Act as in-house expert on structural and stress related problems.
    • Train and develop knowledge in less experienced engineers. Provide guidance for less experienced structural engineers when needed for project execution.
    • Write and revise engineering standards, engineering information bulletins, technical FAQs, and other engineering documents related to subject matter expertise.
    • Develop new analysis methods and tools for internal use and develop new analysis services to offer clients.
    • Perform engineering analysis projects including structural/stress analysis, failure analysis, risk assessment, and other similar studies.
    • Perform on-site inspections of power plant HRSGs and boilers and provide customers with practical recommendations which increase reliability and efficiency.
    • Prepare Proposals to Clients based on their specific needs. Determine price, describe scope of supply, write proposal, follow up with client, be prepared to answer client questions regarding proposal.

    Lead Structural Engineer Requirements

    • Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
    • Proficient with industry specific software tools such as ANSYS and RISA 3D and similar.
    • Proficiency with CAESAR II pipe stress analysis software is desired but not mandatory.
    • Technical proficiency in structural analysis and design of boilers.
    • Knowledge of ASME Section I, B31.1 and AISC ASD/LRFD.
    • Comfortable with low cycle fatigue, thermal stress and dynamic load related problem design.
    • Ability to travel up to 25-30% travel as an annual average. Travel may be as high as 50% during busy seasons.
    • Excellent communication skills to interface with and understand the needs of our engineers and of our clients.
