Logistics Specialist
Contract to Hire | 1st Shift | $22 - $27/hour
Summary:
We are seeking a Logistics Specialist to support our transportation department. Candidates must possess recent working knowledge and a minimum of 5 years' experience with MRP/ERP systems.
Job Requirements:
- Expertise in trucking, ocean vessel logistics, courier services, load layout, weight estimation, and determining the necessary transportation equipment.
- Familiarity with required insurance coverage per load and best practices for loading, packaging, and fully tarping shipments, especially for high-value, highly automated equipment.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with independent owner-operators, brokers, freight forwarders, customs officials, both domestically and internationally.
- USCMA Knowledge
- Supporting the purchasing manager in procuring products or materials, which may involve administrative tasks and manual labor.
- Working regularly in a warehouse environment, with occasional shared office space within the warehouse.
- Understanding of manufacturing environments, including procurement, mechanical and electrical engineering, sawing, welding, CNC machining, painting, final assembly, and shipping processes.
- Keeping up-to-date with OSHA updates for the shop and ensuring compliance with workplace safety standards.
- Updating Safety Data Sheet (SDS) books and maintaining equipment safety inspection logs.
