Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist

Konik is partnering with an engineering consulting firm seeking to add an Environmental, Health, and Safety Specialist to their team. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their career or someone who just got certified.
What you would be doing:
- Assists with Environmental Health and Safety training design and delivery, safety guideline development, and communication. Serves on Safety Committee(s), provides status reports, and supports proactive safety engagement programs. Manages safety-related communications and reporting, including leading indicator safety metrics.
- Coordinates and supports various aspects of occupational health and safety programs, including working with clinics and vendors, conducting surveys, inspections, accident investigations, and coordinating with regulatory agencies. Manages safety data sheets, employee training, and site safety record compliance.
- Oversees and ensures compliance with regulations, codes, and Company policies. Develops and implements compliance strategies in response to new regulations. Provides consultation on environmental, health, and safety procedures and interacts with government agencies. Supports departments in collecting compliance documentation effectively.
What you bring:
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Environmental Health and Safety or a related discipline.
- Minimum of three years experience in environmental, health, and safety or a related field; or five years experience in an industrial setting, including delivering training, actively participating in safety committees, or conducting periodic inspections.
- Demonstrates expertise in applicable laws, regulations, nationally recognized standards, and guidelines relevant to specialized environmental, health, and safety functions.
- Capable of working independently and demonstrating sound judgment.
- Exhibits exceptional written and oral communication skills, along with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for effective presentations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional certification preferred such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CHMM (Certified Hazard Materials Manager), or other relevant certification.
- Environmental experience, including expertise with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Demonstrated experience investigating and managing injuries, claims, and procedures.
- Experience in an energy plant environment and air permitting expertise.
