We are seeking energetic and motivated individuals to join our team at the Chicago Roscoe Village Kumon Math and Reading Center ! Job Summary: Our Primary Instruction Assistant works with children of all ages in developing basic reading and number skills utilizing Kumon worksheets and supplemental materials. Responsibilities: - Instructing students between the ages of 5 and 14 by the Kumon Method - Observing students completing their work and recording thoughtful notes regarding areas of development - Listening to students read aloud and instructing accordingly to improve their oral reading - Grading students' class work and homework during downtime - Greeting students and making them feel comfortable at all times - Working in a friendly, team environment to help make class a success Qualifications: - Must love working with children and have a friendly demeanor (patience is vital) - Proficient in basic math and language arts (7th grade material at least) - Preference will be given to candidates who are comfortable with higher level math and language arts - Strong attention to detail - Ability to multi-task and apply training to various scenarios (employees will be trained on our specific grading techniques upon hire) - Ability to work with up to 3 students at the same time - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; must be adaptable Hours: We are looking for candidates who can work the following shifts: Mondays: 2:30pm-7pm Wednesdays: 2:30pm-7pm Thursdays: 2:30pm-7pm Saturdays: 9:30am-1pm Preference will be given to candidates who can work Monday+Thursday 2:30-7pm and/or Saturdays 9:30am-1pm Salary: $12 to $14 /hour
