This summer, LA-Tech.org is partnering with Snap Inc. and Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) to host the inaugural Snap Lens Academy, a hands-on, six-week augmented reality (AR) training program for 15 community college students from Los Angeles.

All students will receive a stipend including wifi and at-home expenses to participate in the academy. Each student will participate in custom, technical workshops, fireside chats and mentorship with Snap Inc. and LACMA employees. A final group project will culminate the academy experience.

ACADEMY INFORMATION:

• Duration: 6 Weeks

• Commitment: Monday - Friday (10am-4pm)

• Academy Dates: July 6 - August 13

• Academy Final Showcase: August 19

• Location: Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the academy will be conducted virtually.

SKILLS ASSESSMENT

• Candidates who submit an application will receive a skills assessment on May 3rd and will need to be submitted by May 7th.

FIRST ROUND INTERVIEWS WITH LA-TECH.ORG (VIA GOOGLE HANGOUTS):

• Candidates selected for 1st round interviews will be sent an interview sign-up link on May 14th. 1st round interviews will be held on the week of May 17th.

SECOND ROUND INTERVIEWS WITH SNAP INC. (VIA GOOGLE HANGOUTS):

• Candidates selected for a 2nd round interview with Snap Inc. employees will be sent an interview sign-up link on May 28th. 2nd round interviews will be held on the week of June 1st.

ACCEPTANCE NOTIFICATIONS:

• Friday, June 11th.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be 18 years of age or older

• Must have experience with at least one 2D design software (Adobe Illustrator CC, Adobe Photoshop CC, Procreate, Inkscape, etc.)

• Must have examples of your creative content (including but not limited to illustrations, 2D and 3D assets, Snap Lenses, graphics, mock-ups, videos, etc.)

• Demonstrate a passion for design and augmented reality
