    ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

    The Latino Education Advancement Foundation (LEAF) is a 501(c)(3) organization focused on providing programs, advocacy, and responsive education initiatives benefiting college-bound students graduating from East San Jose High Schools. The mission of the Latino Education Advancement Foundation is to advance and develop Initiatives that benefit all low-income students attending East San Jose schools. Through scholarships, workshops, peer mentorship, parent engagement, and college partnerships, LEAF aims to increase the number of students who enroll in and persist through colleges to earn a degree.

     

    POSITION SUMMARY

    LEAF has developed an exciting and unique program to support low-income Hispanic/Latinx students to enroll in, persist through, and complete college: the LEAF Scholarship & Mentorship Program!

    Run out of our LEAF Center for College Student Success (LCSS), the LEAF Scholarship currently supports 150 first and second-year college students through a network of alumni mentors and volunteers, workshops, and parent engagement programs.

    This position will report directly to the Program Director and work closely with them to design, manage, and oversee the LEAF Scholarship Program and the LEAF Center for College Success.

     

    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

    The Program Coordinator will assist the Program Manager and LCCS Director with the following:

    • Assist with the recruitment of scholarship recipients, peer alumni mentors, and volunteer advisors

    • Assist with the development and management of the LEAF Scholars program, including:

    • Research best practices and available resources to create workshop presentations and materials with a focus on financial literacy, time management and executive function techniques, self-advocacy skills, and more.

    • Oversee LEAF Scholars to ensure they are completing the necessary steps and paperwork to successfully enroll in college this coming fall

    • Store and organize all resources, policies, and procedures created in order to repeat the program in subsequent years

     

    Social Media & Marketing

    • Share student successes and alumni highlight through newsletters

    • Develop and share materials to promote the LCCS such as mailers, leaflets, media posts, etc.

    • Manage and grow all social media accounts including LinkedIn, Website, Instagram, etc.

     

    Support LEAF Mentors as they work with LEAF Scholars

    • Maintain regular contact with Mentors to ensure they are meeting the Mentorship requirements, troubleshoot challenges, hear feedback, and collect resources.

    • Assist with the oversight of procedures and processes for Mentors to track alumni progress through campus visits, email, phone calls, and social media interactions.

     

    Parent Support & Engagement

    • Work with LEAF’s Community Partnerships Manager to develop and implement programs to support parents of LEAF Scholars as their students complete the first 2 years of college

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • 1-2 years of relevant Program Management experience

    • Energetic and innovative

    • Collaborative team player

    • Ability to work independently

    • Excellent verbal, written, and public presentation skills

    • Attention to detail

    • Strong skills in writing, public communication, and presentations

    • Familiarity with the East San Jose Community or previous experience working with low-income communities of color

    • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT & BENEFITS

    • Work Locations: Our team is based in San Jose, however we do have an office space in Milpitas. While we are currently working remotely, the position may be required to be in the office up to two times a week.
