Pacific Pros is seeking Construction Inspector for Construction Projects to be a representative for Los Angeles World Airport (LAWA).
Work Location: LAWA has required the candidates be local for this position.
Region: Los Angeles, CA
Status: Full-time on-site.
Opening: Summer 2025, Immediate
Working Hours: TBD, typical dayshift is 6:00am – 2:30pm or 5:00am – 1:30pm M-F; night shift is 10:00pm – 6:30am Sun
Position Description Summary Serve as Owner's representative. The Electrical / IT Inspector will support LAWA’s Quality Assurance & Construction Inspection Division across multiple projects within LAWA’s Capital Improvement Program.
*Candidates must possess a current ICC certification as Commercial Electrical Inspector to apply.
*Successfully hired Candidates must provide Proof of NFPA 70E standards training within the last 3 years and Proof of Cal-OSHA 30 hr. training within the last 4 years, prior to assignment
*Successfully hired candidates must have LAWA SIDA badge prior to official start.
*Must be able to work any assigned shift - day, swing, or night - as required to meet the contractor’s construction schedule.
Description of Duties for this position
The duties for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Electrical/IT inspection staff shall have a thorough knowledge of the methods, materials and techniques of the electrical/IT trade;
the ability to diagnose violations and hazards in new and existing electrical/IT installations and take a proactive approach during construction;
have a general understanding of low voltage systems including fire/life safety and information technology;
have the ability to read and interpret contract documents, electrical codes, applicable standards.
Electrical/IT Inspectors must have the ability to set priorities, the ability to make decisions and work effectively with minimal supervision,
the ability to deal tactfully and effectively with LAWA stakeholders, contractors, construction workers, the public and must conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times.
Professional Experience Level/Minimum Qualifications
Electrical/IT inspection staff shall have 3 years or more experience performing electrical/IT inspections for Building Construction.
Current ICC Certification as a Commercial Electrical Inspector
Proof of NFPA 70E standards training within the last 3 years
Proof of Cal-OSHA 30 hr. training within the last 4 years
Training & knowledge of NFPA -70, 70E, & 72.
Fall protection and harness training.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
Experience at the journey-level as an electrician, with a focus on the installation and repair of electrical systems in public works, institutional, commercial, or industrial settings.
Experience overseeing and ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations on significant construction projects.
Involvement in complex projects that require coordination with multiple stakeholders, including contractors, engineers, and city officials.
Expertise in identifying and addressing deficiencies, ensuring that all aspects of construction meet the required standards.
Must be open to learning the prescriptive items required by the agency.
A strong understanding of diverse code requirements.
Excellent communication and time management skills.
Essential Job Duties
Conduct comprehensive daily inspections of electrical and IT systems across building and terminal construction projects, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and project specifications, review and interpret construction documents including blueprints and shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
Demonstrates strong proficiency in preparing comprehensive daily inspection reports that clearly document the WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, and HOW of all observed construction activities, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and accountability in tracking progress and identifying issues, deficiencies, or safety concerns in a timely manner.
Verify contractor compliance with local and national electrical codes (e.g., NEC, NFPA 70, 70E, 72) and LAWA-specific standards.
Track and document time-and-material work, field changes, and job quantities
Assist in validating contractor progress payment requests based on an approved schedule of values.
Support special inspections and testing activities, coordinating with engineers, contractors, and third-party agencies as needed.
Perform inspections of electrical installations including, but not limited to:
Underground utilities and duct banks
High-voltage switchgear and electrical panels
Conduit racks, conductors, and grounding systems
Interior and exterior lighting systems
Fire life safety systems including smoke/heat detectors and FM-200 suppression systems
Electrical shutdowns, lockout/tagout procedures, and breaker coordination
Inspect IT infrastructure installations such as:
Low-voltage systems (voice/data, security, access control)
Door card readers, security cameras, and public address (P.A.) systems
Communication cabling and equipment rooms
Hardware/Software Knowledge
Knowledge of Project Management Information Software used for inspection/document control (i.e., Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, Word, PM Web, Adobe Pro, Bluebeam, etc.).
Computer proficiency to review and utilize electronic equipment for contract documents efficiently, including change orders, submittals, RFIs, and other inspection documents, with minimal supervision.
Required Qualifications
Electrical/IT inspection staff shall have at 3 years or more of experience performing electrical/IT inspections; For task on the Airfield, 3 years or more of experience with airfield lighting is required.
Proven expertise in the installation and inspection of sewer and storm drainsystems, utility infrastructure, and traffic control measures.
Strong working knowledge of City of Los Angeles and County of Los AngelesStandards.
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Requires a detail-oriented professional with extensive field experience and a strong commitment to safety and compliance.

Minimum Education/Training
High school diploma (or equivalent)
Higher education level is preferred.

Registration/Certification
OSHA 30 (prior to assignment); valid certificates obtained within the past 4 years is acceptable.
Current ICC Certification as a Commercial Electrical Inspector;
Proof of NFPE-70E standards. Completion of training must have been achieved within the last 3 years
Element-Specific Requirements/Notes
May assume other duties as required/needed.
May be required to work various shifts, including day, swing, and night.
Shall be open to work modified schedules, including nights and weekends, as dictated by the contractors' work activities and accelerated project schedules.
Availability to work overtime as required to meet project deadlines and ensure timely completion of tasks is preferred.
LAWA has required the candidates be local and available fully on-site for this field position.
