    POSITION SUMMARY 

    The Web and New Media Specialist is responsible for a broad range of duties related to outreach and marketing the LGBT Network. The specialist is responsible for creating, writing, and editing content for the LGBT Network’s website(s), developing email marketing campaigns and creating video and online content for digital platforms. In the role, you will ensure that the content is current and accurate, as well as clear and audience-friendly, using the LGBT Network’s style guide and brand voice. The incumbent will create engaging graphics, videos, and other elements to positively position the LGBT Network to external audiences, potential and current members, and volunteers. The position also will provide analytics on website usage in order to more effectively communicate to members and potential members. You will work as part of the Communications and public relations team and will also support the Digital Media Coordinator in production of publications, flyers, etc.  The Web and New Media Specialist will report to the Vice President of External Affairs.

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

    The WEB AND NEW MEDIA SPECIALIST is responsible to:

    • Develop and maintain accurate and user-friendly website(s). Develop process for department input
    • Work collaboratively with all departments to effectively communicate program content to members using web and email marketing
    • Leverage LGBT Network campaign materials to enhance brand
    • Design graphics and write copy for new web pages
    • Photograph events and support our photography library
    • Create multimedia content such as videos, polls, and other design elements to enhance the website and social media channels
    • Keep abreast of trends and recommend best practice for website management and email marketing
    • Monitor and report on site usage, digital metrics, and statistics on LGBT Network’s website and email marketing campaigns to ensure acceptable performance and user accessibility
    • Recommend content improvements to attract more users and deepen the level of public engagement
    • Perform other related duties as required

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

    • Specialized experience in web design, specifically able to utilize plugins, templates and modules for WordPress
    • Four-year college degree in communications, marketing, public relations or equivalent work experience.
    • Two-plus years of marketing experience with ability to develop marketing strategies, creating online campaigns. Internship experience accepted.
    • Knowledge of modern WordPress security practices, privacy practices and web hosting/server management and database/SQL experience
    • Proficient in CMS, Mailchimp or similar and Adobe Creative Cloud
    • Experience managing a web content management system
    • Experience in Adobe Design Suite/Creative Cloud, video editing software, HTML, content management systems, and competent in Microsoft Office
    • Experience with SalesForce or other CRM system a plus
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to write clear, concise documentation, reports, and specifications
    • Strong editorial skills required

    • Excellent computer skills experience
    • Reliable transportation and a valid driver license as this position will require some travel throughout Long Island
