Job Summary
As a Social Theory Expert, you will be at the forefront of shaping the understanding of homeland defense operational environments up to the year 2040. Working closely with entities like U.S Army North (USARNORTH), U.S Special Operations Command - North, and the United States Special Operations Command, your role will include planning, developing, and leading monthly workshops focused on the application of social theories in defense contexts. Additionally, you will contribute to academic publications and present findings to Department of Defense senior leaders. This role requires an advanced degree in Sociology, Anthropology, or a closely related field, a minimum of 3 years of experience, and the capability to work effectively on interdisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
Plan, develop, and execute workshops focused on the relevance and application of social theories to homeland defense.
Conduct extensive research to develop new frameworks or paradigms that can be applied to defense operations.
Contribute to academic publications examining the role of social theories in the homeland defense operational environment.
Prepare presentations for senior leaders within the Department of Defense, summarizing key insights and actionable strategies.
Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, including cybersecurity experts, behavioral scientists, and military personnel.
Assist in securing research grants or other funding related to social theory research in defense operations.
Stay updated on current trends, theories, and methodologies in the field of social theory
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher in Sociology, Anthropology, Social Theory, or a related field.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in social theory research, preferably with a focus on defense or security operations.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Proficient in qualitative and quantitative research methods.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce scholarly articles and deliver compelling presentations.
SECRET clearance
All SMEs must be available onsite for 7 out of 9 events and able to conduct some work pre and post-events (answer questions, help with publications, etc.)
