Job Description
SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGER
This role manages the planning, organizing and carrying out of large-scale projects. Reviews data and then enacts a plan in order to make improvements to the supply chain system. Work to promote top-notch performance from workers and lower the overall costs of items used in projects. Ensures fair prices and negotiates to set the parent company is receiving the best possible price for good solid. Maintains detailed awareness of stock on hand and actively monitor what is being used and supports production by making sure they have the tools needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
•Consults with company management to determine supply budget.
•Ensures that all supply orders arrive on time.
•Ensures that all expenditures fall within designated budget.
•Assists in determining standards for quality control.
•Ensures that all products shipped are up to quality standards.
•Processes returns of any bulk shipments of defective items.
•Manages inventory of supplies and oversees the transfer of goods.
•Negotiates with distributors for bulk prices.
•Reduces or increases supply orders to meet demands.
•Consults with production to create lists of new items to stock.
•Studies markets to inform order and distribution decisions.
•Addresses and resolves shipment delays or problems.
•Oversees employee activity on a daily basis.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
•Demonstrates strong leadership and problem solving skills.
•Is detail oriented with excellent organization.
•Is proficient in the use of QuickBooks and Microsoft Office.
•Manages time efficiently with ability to multi-task.
•Exhibits familiarity with company sales records and inventory.
•Possesses awareness of market trends and new or competitive products.
•Is capable of reading and interpreting BOM, invoices and packing slips.
•Possesses knowledge of company’s customer base.
•Understands best shipping and ordering practices.
•Possesses knowledge of product, manufacturing, and shipping costs.
Education and Experience
•Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field is required. Significant experience may be substituted for education.
•5 - 7 years of work experience as a Supply Chain Manager is required.
•5 - 7 years of work experience in a supervisory capacity is required.
*Certifications in Supply Chain preferred.
