    Your job duties include demonstrating the proper techniques to prepare food, showing students how to use kitchen equipment, and teaching a variety of recipes. You may also develop lesson plans and collaborate with other teachers. Additional qualifications include voluntary culinary certifications, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead and manage students. This position is located in a correctional facility. You will have direct contact with the offenders.

    JOB SUMMARY:

    Our culinary arts program is seeking a Chef Instructor to help train our students in the art of cooking. In this position, you will cover all aspects of cooking, from sanitation to plating skills. If you have specialized experience in a position like sushi, or pastry chef, we may have you teach classes in those culinary areas as well. You will hold lectures for your students, lead hands-on instruction sessions, and grade your students on their performance. Our ideal applicant has a degree in culinary arts and several years of experience in the restaurant business. You also need to have strong communication skills. 

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develop a curriculum for your classes
    • Lead lectures and hands-on sessions
    • Assign cooking projects and written assessments
    • Grade your students on their performance
    • Advise your students on their future careers
    • Explore possible culinary grant opportunities

    REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Associate degree in the culinary arts preferred
    • Several years of cooking and/or restaurant management experience
    • Strong communication skills
    • Teaching or employee training experience (preferred)
    • Pass background check and drug screen
