  • Responsibilities

    The Purchasing/Expediting Specialist is responsible for assisting the Purchasing Manager in all aspects of the procurement process. They are also responsible for ensuring the timely delivery of materials and equipment to meet project or production needs. This includes monitoring stock levels, researching vendors, tracking orders, and maintaining purchasing records. The Purchasing Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement of supplies and equipment based on the organization's needs.


    Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for assisting the Procurement Manager in managing and mentoring all purchasing and sourcing employees, making sure that their daily tasks are completed and all processes followed
    • Responsible for ensuring that all buying, expediting and sourcing is done to meet customer demands, is done correctly following internal policies, and is done to mitigate/minimize any future risk or cost towards the company
    • Responsible for maintaining proper inventory levels to optimize inventory turnover by keeping a product pipeline filled to meet customer demand
    • Assist Procurement Manager in developing and managing supplier relationships:
    • Assist in monitoring supplier performance, resolving issues, and coordinating improvement plans as necessary
    • Monitor purchase orders and track the status of shipments.
    • Communicate with suppliers to identify and resolve any potential delays or issues.
    • Proactively develop and implement contingency plans to ensure timely delivery.
    • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, such as project managers and production planners, to keep them informed of the status of shipments and to identify any potential impacts to their schedules

    Skills:

    • Able to use office suite of products, especially Microsoft Excel
    • Able to perform MRP analysis, risk management, cost analysis
    • Knowledge of supply chain best practices
    • Good attention to detail, organized, multitasker, team player
    • Communication skills along with a high esteem of accountability
    • Excellent management and training skills; work in a team or independently
    • 4 plus years' experience in purchasing roles, or various equivalent supply chain roles

    Able to work evenings when the occasional project requires
