    PeopleFluent is hiring!  We have an exciting opportunity for a DBA with deep experience in Oracle technology to join our team as a Database Administrator.  

    In this role, you will be responsible for providing operational database services for our organization.  Some of the primary responsibilities of this role would include owning, tracking, and resolving database-related incidents & requests.  This position will also entail fulfilling requests & resolving incidents within assigned SLA's, and reviewing service-related reports (e.g.: database backups, maintenance, monitoring, etc.) on a daily basis to ensure service-related issues are identified and resolved within established SLAs.  This person will also be expected to respond to database-related alerts and escalations, which involves working with Database Engineering to come up with strategic solutions to recurring problems. This position will also be taking part in an on-call rotation to ensure our consistency and quality for clients.

    This role requires a service-oriented mentality and a high sense of ownership for assigned problems / requests; this person will be expected to focus on managing / resolving issues in alignment with our SLAs, as well as establishing and maintaining communication with technology customers to provide status updates of their requests.  This person will be expected to initiate and perform changes on production systems, as well as proactively escalating any issues that cannot be resolved within established timeframes.

    WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

    • Manage and maintain Oracle databases, which includes supporting multiple lifecycle environments.
    • Contribute to the development, QA, staging, and production on physical and virtual operating environments.
    • Analyze, monitor, troubleshoot, and diagnose issues to ensure database optimization, integrity, availability, and functionality are within prescribed timelines.
    • Ensure that our Database environments are properly configured to function with specified network & storage components as well as provided tool suites.
    • Provide technical oversight and consultation, as required; this includes assisting Development with complex query tuning and schema refinement.
    • Install, configure, maintain, manage, and troubleshoot Database Environments and associated components.
    • Perform backups in accordance with applicable regulations, policies, and guidance; this involves ensuring that backup failures are properly addressed.
    • Plan and analyze risk associated with system upgrades.
    • Document processes, procedures, and activities (as required).
    • Interact with service desks and/or technical staff to resolve database technical problems or provide relevant information.
    • Exhibit effective and professional interpersonal skills (including written & oral communications).
    • Use the provided ticket management system, as directed, to document and resolve database problems.
    • Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities (occasionally, this will be done after normal business hours).
    • Provide required support for disaster recovery efforts (real or simulated).
    • Adhere to all applicable security requirements, processes, and regulations; this includes contributing to the regular improvement of security standards and implementation.
    • Maintain the flexibility to occasionally work overnight and weekend coverage shifts; this includes participating in on-call schedules.
    • Take on additional tasks, as needed.

    ABOUT YOU

    We expect you to have at least 3 years of professional experience in Database Administration with Oracle systems.

    WE WOULD LIKE (BUT DON'T REQUIRE) YOU TO HAVE:

    • Completed coursework in Computer Science; Bachelor's Degree is a plus.
    • Deep expertise with Oracle back-end technology; experience working with recent Oracle solutions (11g or higher) is strongly preferred!
    • Experience with large-scale, high availability database solutions, clustering, and off-site disaster recovery.
    • Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
    • Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts.
    • Expertise with utilizing data protection tools; experience with NetApp SnapManager and/or Oracle Transparent Data Protection tools is a plus.
    • Advanced expertise working with Linux servers.
    • Advanced understanding of Linux and Windows OS.
    • Strong knowledge of Powershell and BASH scripting languages.
    • Strong experience working with the configuration of database server monitoring tools to expose true issues, and minimize false positives.
    • Must have a strong understanding of best practices for secure systems design and scalable fault-tolerant architectures at the database level.
    • Excellent communication skills in English (both written and verbal).
