    POSITION: Administrative Assistant

    DEPARTMENT: LVD Cultural Preservation and Natural Resources Division

    LOCATION: TBD

    SUPERVISOR: Director of Natural Resources

    EMPLOYMENT: Full-time

    SALARY/PAY RATE: $17.83-$18.92 (Grant Funded)

    DESCRIPTION:

    The Administrative Assistant will provide essential support to the Natural Resources Department, assisting with daily operations, scheduling, data management, grant research, office coordination, and more. This role is critical for maintaining efficient administrative processes and supporting departmental goals.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Organize and manage documents and records (digital and physical)

    Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence

    Plan and coordinate travel for departmental staff

    Perform data entry, analysis, and report preparation

    Schedule, attend, and take minutes at meetings as assigned

    Identify and assist with grant funding opportunities and reporting

    Provide general administrative support to the LVD Cultural Preservation and Natural Resources Division.

    Screen calls, draft communication, and manage departmental correspondence

    Maintain calendars and coordinate meetings/events.

    Assist with logistical planning for departmental events and fieldwork

    Support internal coordination and communication within the department

    Maintain and fulfill tribal records requests

    Perform transcription, document preparation, and note-taking as needed

    Ensure office equipment is maintained, and supplies are stocked

    Assist with both indoor and outdoor natural resource activities as needed, including fieldwork to support both the Natural Resources and THPO departments.

    Travel occasionally, including overnight stays if required

    Other duties as assigned by the Director of Natural Resources

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    High school diploma or GED

    At least 18 years of age

    Reside within 50 miles of Lac Vieux Desert Reservation lands

    Minimum two (2) years of administrative experience or equivalent education

    Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

    Strong written and verbal communication skills

    Ability to work independently and under pressure

    Excellent organizational, professional, and interpersonal skills

    Commitment to confidentiality and willingness to sign confidentiality agreement

    Must hold a valid Michigan driver’s license

    Ability and willingness to participate in occasional fieldwork (land/water)

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    · Associate’s degree or higher degree in a related field

    · Five (5) years of relevant experience

    · Working knowledge of:

    o LVD tribal codes, ordinances, policies, and procedures

    o Tribal Council governance

    o Michigan’s relationship with the Lac Vieux Desert Band

    o U.S. government-to-government relations with the LVD Tribe

    o LVD tribal businesses and partnerships

    · Experience with office systems and process management

    · Two (2) years of experience in technical or science writing

    · One (1) year or more experience with quantitative/qualitative data management

    · Experience in natural resources, aquatic, and/or wildlife research
