  • Responsibilities

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
    Under the supervision of the Clinic Manager, the LVN Treatment Nurse assists in the daily operation of the medical component of the Adult Day Care Center. The LVN Treatment Nurse’s duties include monitoring and maintaining skin integrity, health education of participants and families, the provision of treatments as per the treatment plan and as ordered by the Physician's documentation in the medical record.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Provide treatments as per physician orders.
    2. Provide supplies to participants and caregivers for treatments done at home.
    3. Motivate participants to maximize independence and maintain skill levels and encourage full participation in centers program.
    4. Document in participants' charts all treatments administered in center.
    5. Assist Clinic Manager in the maintenance of adequate nursing supplies required for treatments in the center, as well as those done at place of residence.
    6. Provide patient care as appropriate and under the supervision of the Clinic Manager or the Physician.
    7. Participate in morning meetings as necessary.
    8. Cross train to provide coverage for medication nurse as needed.
    9. Attend monthly clinic meeting.
    10. Maintain the wound care log and wound care checklist.
    11. Perform other duties as assigned by the Clinic Manager.

    Required Skills

    KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
    1. Must possess knowledge of nursing theory and practice.
    2. A dependable individual with a strong knowledge base and keen understanding and appreciation of the elderly.
    3. The ability to present to the community the philosophy of community-based long term care for the elderly.
    4. The skill to work collectively and communicate effectively with staff, participants and family members.
    5. Adaptable individual with ability to work with the interdisciplinary team approach to care for the elderly.
    6. The ability to accept supervision in an appropriate manner.
    7. Proficient in computer skills.
    8. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

    Required Experience

    EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
    1. A graduate of an accredited nursing program with a license to practice in the state of Texas as a Vocational Nurse.
    2. One year of related experience in treatment, preferably with a frail or elderly population.
