About the Role:
The main responsibility will be to support our healthcare clients with statistical analyses, sampling and data analysis. The position is primarily responsible for analyzing and interpreting claims data, clinical and administrative data, evaluating trends and statistical significance and evaluating the validity of statistical sampling methodologies in accordance with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Program Integrity Manual. The Consultant will review statistical methodologies utilized in Medicare audits and opine on accuracy of methodologies used. The Consultant will also provide expert testimony to refute sampling methodologies in appeals.
What you’ll do:
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Comfortable designing and drafting a valid statistical methodology for conducting statistical sampling to project overpayments.
- Aggregating data from disparate sources to provide analytic databases for research and litigation support. Develops reports and queries to extract data from electronic health records and other data sources.
- Writing technical reports, expert reports, and other reports as appropriate, and is primarily responsible for their technical defensibility and accuracy.
- Providing expert testimony to refute statistical sampling and projected overpayments.
- Creating statistical approaches and analyzes data generated by multiple providers or from various review processes (e.g., identifying benchmarks or care, peer groups, and stratification).
- Trending data to understand opportunities for improvement or focused investigation.
- Assuring adequate sample size calculations for audits.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to effectively present information and communicate the intricacies and complexities of statistics in a clear and understandable manner in both written and oral format to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors and in legal support of clients.
- Familiar with RAT-STATS, Sequel SQL, SAS or other statistical programming software and spreadsheet software.. We do not provide training for this position, and as such, any applicant should have high-level statistical consulting experience in a professional environment.
- Complex Excel spreadsheet creation.
- Explore and recommend healthcare data management, research industry strategies, and software tools available to implement strategies.
- Prior experience with healthcare data analytics leveraging patient-level/longitudinal healthcare claims data, electronic medical records (EMR) or related data.
