    The Gist of It:

The UX Service Designer uncovers, defines, and designs the UX architecture of a system-of-systems comprised of multiple sub-systems and microservices. In other words, the service designer serves as a systems thinker who will work to define system needs and requirements from a user experience perspective.

Key skills to being successful including user research, journey mapping, co-creation and ideation workshopping, service blueprinting and service prototyping. By practicing User Centered Design (UCD), service designers act as an intelligent filter for user feedback on microservices and ensure that agile teams tackle the highest value problems. As a part of a Balanced Team with Product Managers and Engineers, designers work collaboratively with their teammates to determine design priorities, refine a backlog and roadmap, and validate the technical complexity of their design recommendations.

    What you will do:

    • Lead design on your team across the entire product lifecycle (everything from discovering and defining the problem to iterating on a product in production)

    • Define the vision for the user experience across the system and involve teammates in the design process

    • Actively engage with key internal and external stakeholders to validate and gain alignment on proposed system design.

    • Advocate for user value and balance that with business value, portfolio value, and technical complexity

    • Work with your team to define system vision, strategy, roadmap, and backlog

    • Seek user feedback constantly while balancing when you can build in risk

    • Seek collaboration with my product manager and understanding the balance of when to include them and when to move it forward

    • Seek collaboration with engineers and understand the balance of when to include them and when to move it forward

    • Lead research synthesis to drive actions for the team

    • Actively engage with other designers, sharing practices and looking for ways to raise the overall skillset bar of the design team

    • Assess needs of users across a complex system and collaborate with a balanced team on formulating sub-system requirements.

    Requirements:

    • 5+ years of experience in all UX & Service Design capabilities: journey mapping, co-creation & ideation workshopping, service blueprinting and service prototyping.

    • Expertise in user-centered design (UCD) methodologies and group facilitation, including with groups of senior organizational leaders

    • Extensive experience applying a variety of qualitative user research methodologies.

    • Experience with service design deliverables such as: ecosystem mapping, information architecture diagrams, concept service prototypes, service blueprinting (current & future state), user story mapping & persona development.

    • Proficient with industry standard design tools (e.g., Sketch, Miro, InVision, Zeplin, Figma).

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to the audience.

    • Portfolio highlighting multiple projects demonstrating design and research process along with your direct contributions.

    • U.S. Citizen and have the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.

    • UI Design Experience is a plus.
