    The Gist of It:

    The DevSecOps Engineer plans and executes system development and security strategies. They develop best practices and infrastructure as code for continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) of software development pipelines and production systems. The DevSecOps Engineer develops documentation to enable rapid adoption and utilization of standard architectures.

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Designs, develops, documents, analyzes, tests, integrates, debugs, and analyzes system architectures to provide scalable and reliable services composing of custom software and commercial solutions.

    • Participates in Agile Teams to plan, develop and maintain systems.

    • Assesses and monitors systems to address risks and vulnerabilities, and maintain system configuration.

    • Design and develops automation and deployment processes.

    • Designs and develops automated testing of infrastructure and systems-level testing

    • Hardens operating systems, infrastructure, and platforms.

    • Evaluates technologies and plans for their integration into systems.

    • Provides expert judgement on operating systems, virtual machine hypervisor, Amazon Web Services, container orchestration, service meshes, and provisioning management systems

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

    Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field; or professional experience in systems engineering and automation is required. Other requirements are:

    • 3+ years of DevOps or DevSecOps Engineering experience
    • 3+ years of experience with cloud technologies like AWS (preferably AWS architect or systems operator certified)
    • 3+ years of Linux experience (preferably Linux+ certified)
    • Strong understanding of networking concepts and web technologies
    • Maintains Security+ or equivalent certification
    • Proficient with a variety of software development languages, tools and techniques
    • Proficient with a variety of DevOps tools and techniques
    • Proficient in scripting and automation tools such as PowerShell, Ansible Playbooks, Python, and YAML
    • Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) concepts and automated tools such as Docker, Jenkins, Rational Team Concert, JIRA, Git Lab, Puppet, and/or Cucumber.
    • Proficient with security protocols (e.g., IAM, SAML, OAuth, Okta, Ping Identity)
    • Knowledge of software development and systems development lifecycle practices, preferably in an agile development environment
    • Experience in software security testing, methodologies, and frameworks
    • Hands on experience in security systems, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, authentication systems, log management, content filtering, etc.
    • Familiar with DoD DevSecOps Reference Architecture
    • Experience with Kubernetes, Istio, Envoy, Anchore, Twistlock, ElasticSearch, OpenSCAP among others
    • Problem solving skills and ability to work under pressure
    • Strong analytical skills

    • Security+ or equivalent (required)
