    Our client, a biotech company and leader in their space, is seeking a new Director of Finance & Controller to join their team.This client offers a collaborative, warm culture where every employee is viewed as an important member of their team.

    This position will oversee the functional accounting close, internal and external reporting, internal controls, coordination of the audit and audit-related activities, treasury and tax compliance and reporting. The Director of Finance & Controller designs and implements financial policies and procedures related to business processes, risk management and internal controls. As lead liaison for auditors for annual audit, quarterly reviews and Sarbanes-Oxley reporting, this person will ensure effective coordination with Accounting, SEC reporting, Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis to deliver high quality and timely information. As the company expands, the Director of Finance & Controller will coordinate on a worldwide basis all controllership activities.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Direct accounting close and reporting
    • Ensure the quality and timeliness of information for SEC and other reporting
    • Working with IT and other functional areas, lead financial and enterprise resource planning systems to design and implement worldwide integrated biopharmaceutical operations
    • Coordinate and assure functional budgets
    • Establish and maintain financial policies and procedures
    • Lead Sarbanes-Oxley compliance
    • Lead liaison with external audit firms, including diligence and comfort processes.
    • Manage tax returns and tax provision with external tax advisors
    • Review, research, and document the accounting implications of major transactions, including coordination with functional area leads and legal to review and approve major corporate contracts
    • Provide accounting and business expertise to corporate development transactions and collaboration agreements
    • Assess the financial implications of new accounting pronouncements
    • Support cross-functional functional and project teams
    • Manage equity, cash management and other treasury activities

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Expertise in the areas of controllership, corporate accounting, controls, SEC and tax – significant prior public company experience is a must
    • BS/MBA in accounting and CPA
    • 10+ years of related experience and demonstrated leadership in Finance
    • Knowledge and understanding of the biotechnology industry, including experience in functional and project-based budgeting and forecasting in a late-stage or commercial enterprise
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Demonstrated success in staff development
    • Experience with enterprise resource system design and implementation
    • A strong desire to collaborate on a cross-functional basis to ensure achievement of our corporate goals and objectives
