  • Responsibilities

    Fulltime DevOps engineer role with our life sciences client.  This person is responsible to "make things scale" which includes: building software that automates experiences, developing tools that provide insights/metrics, and providing instrumentation for the Engineering teams to more efficiently scale up the platform's performance.

     

    • Build and maintain their platform, supporting builds, deploys and monitors applications
    • Find opportunities to drive efficiencies in our hardware and software platforms as well as improving or automating manual processes
    • Develop software to automate routine tasks, infrastructure management, and validate changes
    • Be responsible for evangelizing best practices for application architecture and observability, working with developers to ensure that applications meet criteria for stability, resiliency, security, etc.
    • Provide on-call services for production systems
    • Contribute to scaling build, test, and deployment pipelines

    You Have:

    • Lived experience running Kubernetes in production
    • Know your way around the OSI networking model, with deep knowledge of Layer 2 to 4
    • Edge computing, in particular, any experience with: IoFog, Balena, KubeEdge
    • You take an Ops-centric approach to everything you build, ensuring availability, performance, reliability, scalability, observability, and security are core components
    • You have intimate knowledge with one core programming languages: Java, Scala, Ruby, Python, Go
    • You are able to inspire other people to work with you, and you enjoy mentoring and coaching engineers
    • You act like an owner and strive to do the work you're proud of, both technically and in your team interactions
    • At least two years of professional experience
    • Willingness to travel to partner sites as needed
