    We are currently interviewing candidates for a Head of Scientific Operations role with our startup client.

    This person will have strong laboratory and organizational skills to oversee general operations and lab management. In this role, you will help coordinate a team to, under full automation, execute customer experiments and synthesize chemical matter as well as generate and collect data from the platform.

    Responsibilities include coordinating new instrument procurement, installation, performing instrument maintenance and quality control, training fellow laboratory members in proper instrument usage, managing waste-streams and overseeing online/offline compound/reagent/sample inventory.

    Other responsibilities of the role may include project and resource management and working cross-functionally to contribute to internal development. Maintaining a Quality program. HSE administration. Procurement/JIT delivery of reagents and chemicals. Managing supply chain of consumable and reagents. Customer and vendor facing. Employee onboarding. Operational alignment of three facilities. Managing service contracts. Project Management. Contribute to the continuous development of the chemistry/biology platform and offerings. Administration of site security plan. Work with shipping and receiving. Understand software stack sufficiently to operate system and train new employees/customers. Run cross-site safety meetings. Manage operations staff and daily operations of The Studio.

    You Have

    • Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in a relevant field (Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacology)
    • 5+ years of wetlab experience preferably in an industry setting
    • 3+ years of laboratory management experience including people management
    • Experience with quality systems, performing validation studies and data analysis
    • Strong organization abilities
    • A track record of working cross-functionally to deliver results
    • Experience with lab automation systems and software
    • Experience with lab regulations and permits in California as well as generating training materials
    • Ability to generate operations statistics ranging from reagent usage to capacity
    • Great verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • The ability to translate a high-level goal into action with minimal further guidance
    • Project management experience
    • Experience in a customer facing role
