Key Responsibilities Receive and log incoming specimens according to established protocols. Verify specimen integrity, labeling, and chain of custody documentation. Sort and distribute specimens to appropriate laboratory departments Enter specimen data into Laboratory Information System (LIS) Prepare specimens for testing including aliquoting and labeling Maintain accurate records and documentation Follow all safety protocols and infection control procedures Communicate specimen discrepancies to appropriate personnel Assist with inventory management of laboratory supplies Support quality assurance activities
Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Associate degree in medical laboratory science or related field preferred Previous laboratory or healthcare experience preferred Strong attention to detail and accuracy Excellent organizational and time management skills Proficiency with computer systems and data entry Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Strong communication skills Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols
Essential Skills Data entry accuracy and speed Understanding of specimen handling procedures Familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) Basic knowledge of medical terminology Problem-solving abilities Team collaboration skills
