Responsibilities
This is for a Thursday, Friday, Saturday nights position 19:00 - 07:00. After training the traveler will be the only one here in lab during the night.
Generalist including basic blood bank, phlebotomy, and gram stain reading
Job Summary:
The Travel Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing laboratory tests and procedures to assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. This role involves working temporary assignments at various healthcare facilities, ensuring accurate and timely test results while adhering to all safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests in areas such as hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and immunology
Collect, process, and analyze patient specimens (blood, urine, tissue, etc.)
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment
Ensure accuracy and reliability of test results through quality control procedures
Maintain proper documentation of test results and patient records
Follow all safety protocols, infection control standards, and regulatory requirements
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
Adapt quickly to new lab environments, systems, and protocols
Maintain compliance with HIPAA and facility policies
Requirements:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field
Valid certification such as MLT (ASCP) or MLS (ASCP) (or equivalent)
Active state license (if required by assignment location)
Minimum 1–2 years of recent laboratory experience
Ability to work in different clinical settings and adapt quickly
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
