The Labeling Supervisor oversees a team of part-time labelers, typically around 20 people. The are responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely labeling of Company products. This role is responsible for supervising daily operations, maintaining strict quality and compliance standards, and enforcing company policies, procedures, and labeling protocols. The Labeling Supervisor must be able to address personnel issues, performance concerns, and procedural noncompliance directly and constructively, maintaining accountability while fostering a respectful and motivated team culture. The ideal candidate is highly organized, mathematically precise, and deeply attentive to detail. One who thrives in a role where consistency, accuracy, and leadership are essential. This position reports to the Production Manager and plays a key role in keeping labeling operations efficient, compliant, and aligned with company standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Labeling Supervisor is responsible for a range of duties critical to the success of the labeling operation, including:
• Set and reinforce expectations for all Labeling Team members through clear, respectful, and consistent communication.
• Enforce Company policies, standard operating procedures, and management directives by addressing performance and behavioral issues promptly and constructively.
• Lead, train, and support Labeling Team members by organizing work schedules, providing hands-on instruction, and ensuring daily tasks are completed with accuracy, efficiency, and consistency.
• Assign daily tasks and adjust priorities based on production goals, order deadlines, staffing levels, and coordination with other departments.
• Monitor labeling work throughout each shift to ensure precision, compliance, and quality. Oversee application of all labels and stickers to confirm products meet appearance, regulatory, export, and customer-specific standards.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment by routinely inspecting equipment, materials, and work areas for wear, cleanliness, and compliance with safety standards.
• Print barcodes and overprint required product, certification, and compliance information on labels.
• Pull and stage correct labels and work-in-progress (WIP) materials based on work orders; maintain accurate inventories and keep storage areas organized and up to date.
• Fulfill and prepare completed labeling orders for shipment, including palletizing, wrapping, weighing, and staging.
• Track, verify, and report daily labeling totals and individual performance metrics with exceptional accuracy;
prepare and maintain detailed department records, including timekeeping, quality checks, and inventory documentation, with zero tolerance for error.
• Conduct staff meetings to share updates, relay expectations, or address issues.
• Participate in the hiring process by reviewing applicants, conducting interviews, and making recommendations.
• Track team attendance; ensure absences and time-off use are recorded accurately, and document and address violations of the Company attendance policy.
• Evaluate employee performance, deliver feedback, and conduct performance reviews in partnership with HR.
• Requisition or request supplies and materials as needed to support labeling operations.
• Support budgeting tasks by helping track department activity, suggesting cost-effective improvements, or flagging needs.
• Identify opportunities to improve labeling workflows, reduce waste, and enhance efficiency; recommend changes to the Production Manager to support continuous improvement.
• Perform labeling duties as needed to support team output, assist with complex orders, or cover absences.
