    Job description

    Keystone is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization in York County, South Carolina. We offer internationally accredited and licensed services including education, prevention and treatment to meet the needs of individuals, families, and groups that are experiencing alcohol and/or drug related problems. We are looking to hire a full-time Laboratory Collector from 1pm-9pm Monday - Thursday.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.

    Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples.

    Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.

    Follow the laboratory's established corrective action policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.

    Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the technical consultant, clinical consultant or director.

    Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.

    Collecting observed urine specimens from patients.

    Attend all mandatory training/licensure and receive an annual TB screening.

    Require regular and reliable attendance.

    Proficiency with MS office computer software applications and/or Medical Records software applications, emails, etc. Seeks and participates in development of proficiency with available online and in-house trainings.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Associate degree in chemical, physical or biological science or medical technology from a regionally accredited program; or High school diploma or equivalent and have successfully completed an official military medical laboratory procedures course of at least 50 weeks duration and have held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Laboratory Technician); or high school diploma or equivalent with documentation of training for testing performed prior to analyzing patient specimens. Training must ensure that individual has:

    The skills required for proper specimen collection, including patient preparation, if applicable, labeling, handling, preservation or fixation, processing or preparation, transportation and storage of specimens.

    The skills required for implementing all standard laboratory procedures.

    The skills required for performing each test method and for proper instrument use.

    The skills required for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and calibration procedures related to each test performed.

    A working knowledge of reagent stability and storage.

    The skills required to implement the quality control policies and procedures of the laboratory.

    An awareness of the factors that influence test results; and

    The skills required to assess and verify the validity of patient test results through the evaluation of quality control sample values prior to reporting patient test results.
