    Position Summary

    The Landings Association is seeking a Lagoon Spray Technician / Lagoon Maintenance Specialist to help maintain the health, appearance, and function of the community’s lagoon system. This position is responsible for monitoring lagoon conditions, managing aquatic vegetation, applying chemical treatments, operating boats and spray equipment, and supporting storm-readiness and environmental compliance efforts.

    This is a hands-on, outdoor technical role ideal for someone with experience in pesticide application, lagoon or pond maintenance, aquatic vegetation control, and safe equipment operation.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Inspect lagoons to assess water quality, vegetation conditions, structural concerns, and storm-readiness.
    • Identify and help resolve issues related to aquatic vegetation, pests, aeration systems, valves, and overall lagoon health.
    • Safely operate boats, spray rigs, and light maintenance equipment for vegetation control and chemical applications.
    • Mix and apply chemicals according to manufacturer instructions, safety procedures, and regulatory guidelines.
    • Perform vegetation cutbacks around lagoons using tools and equipment such as trimmers, chainsaws, pole saws, blowers, hedgers, chippers, herbicide spray equipment, and backpack granular blowers.
    • Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
    • Schedule and complete daily work routes to support departmental maintenance goals.
    • Assist with chemical inventory, procurement, scheduling, and planning for lagoon maintenance operations.
    • Work safely, report accidents or near-misses promptly, and remain current on required training and certifications.
    • Support other departments and assist during operational emergencies, severe weather events, or community needs.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Minimum of 3 years of applicable experience in pesticide application, lagoon maintenance, pond maintenance, aquatic vegetation control, or a related field.
    • Possession of a Georgia Pesticide License.
    • Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured under TLA’s vehicle insurance policy.
    • Ability to safely operate boats, spray rigs, light equipment, and hand tools.
    • Reliable and predictable attendance.
    • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and around water, uneven ground, chemicals, wildlife, and maintenance equipment.
    • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, including frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing/pulling, gripping, and lifting up to 50 pounds regularly, with occasional lifting up to 60 pounds.

    Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Knowledge of lagoon systems, aquatic vegetation management, and water quality monitoring.
    • Experience safely handling and applying herbicides or other chemicals.
    • Basic mechanical aptitude for minor equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety procedures.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Good communication skills and a professional, service-oriented approach.
