    ACCOUNTANT II – DIVISION OF TRANSPORTATION

     

    THE DIVISION OF TRANSPORTATION IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING A SAFE, EFFICIENT AND INNOVATIVE TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM TO ENHANCE MOBILITY, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND QUALITY OF LIFE IN LAKE COUNTY. IF YOU HAVE A BACKGROUND IN ACCOUNTING, LAKE COUNTY WANTS YOU!

     

    THE POSITION

    The Accountant II – Division of Transportation position is a professional position. The general function of the position is to provide assistance in a support role, assisting others in the preparation of financial statements and reports, processing and reviewing documents, and providing gathered information to appropriate personnel. The position may supervise subordinate accounting and clerical personnel and is under moderate supervision.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Depending on the assignment, the incumbent may perform a combination of some or all of the following duties, and perform related duties as assigned:

    1. Prepare, analyze and monitor financial reports, journal entries and account reconciliations.
    2. Prepare budget journals and assists with budgeting tasks.
    3. Develop and process financial information and data for internal and external audits.
    4. Complete the quarterly reporting to the Grant Accountability and Transparency Act (GATA).
    5. Process pay estimates and change orders.
    6. Designs and implement workflows and procedures.
    7. Update project files and prepares correspondence as needed within the department.
    8. Verify and process accounts payable invoices and posting receivables codes to ensure they are accurate.
    9. Prepare and submit requisitions and purchase orders as needed.
    10. Process checks, deposits and withdrawals; balance accounts; handle distributions and resolve discrepancies in accounts for capital and bond funds.
    11. Assist in the development of the revenue section for the divisions Capital Plan.
    12. Assist in special division projects.
    13. Train lesser experienced accounting staff.
    14. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

    COMPENSATION

    Lake County is offering a competitive salary (hiring range is from $52,144 TO $66,918 +/- (K6) commensurate with experience) along with an excellent and comprehensive benefits package. We also offer flexible working hours, and a comprehensive wellness and training program.

    • Ability to use tools, or equipment requiring moderate instruction and experience such as computers, software programs such as word processing, spreadsheets, or custom applications, and office machines.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers and staff, vendors, the public and others encountered in the course of work.

    Required Experience

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Interested candidates should minimally possess the following education and experience:

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university or the equivalent of four years college education with required completion of Accounting I and Accounting II coursework is preferred;
    • Five (5) to seven (7) years of related accounting experience;
    • Oracle Enterprise Accounting system experience a plus;
    • Or any combination of education and experience that provides the candidates possesses the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties prescribed to the position (above).
