  • Responsibilities

    This position provides a high level of support to the Executive Director for the Center for Health Policy, Faculty member and other staff members. He/she will be the main point of contact for the Center for Health Policy and it’s programs. This position will be expected to coordinate events, execute initiatives envisioned by the Center, and represent the Center in the most professional manner. This position is expected to understand all aspects of the Center for Health Policy and how it operates with other departments within Student Affairs and the Meharry Campus.

     

    • Manages daily calendar and directs the scheduling of meetings • Develops itineraries and plans and organizes travel • Transcribes and composes correspondence as required • Provides Staff Support to all members of the Center for Health Policy • Plans and directs preparation for special events such as retreats, receptions, commencement, Board meetings and dinners hosted by the Center, functions for visiting lecturers, routine business luncheons and dinners and some professional entertaining • Serves as records management administrator • Assists in the collection of data and preparation of reports for various projects • Coordinates arrangements for membership and annual meetings • Responsible for scheduling, attending, and recording minutes at meetings • Coordination of business travel • Other duties as assigned.

    Required Skills

    • Ability to plan, organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously and to supervise and direct activities of others. • Ability to set priorities and assume responsibility for seeing that projects are completed in a timely manner. Independent interpretation of policies and procedures and decision-making abilities are necessary. • Knowledge of the organizational structure of the Center for Health Policy and Meharry Medical College. • Ability to gather and disseminate information and requires the ability to relate effectively to individuals at all levels.

    Required Experience

    • Bachelors' degree in Business Administration, Higher Education or related field from an accredited college required. Master's degree in Business Administration or Higher Education or related field is preferred. • Demonstrated ability to work with individuals in the academic community • He/she should have at least five (5) years successful administrative experience that required ability to work under stress and pressure with tact, diplomacy, and persistence. • knowledgeable about the college and ideally the workings of the Center for Health Policy
