    Job Description

    The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for the comprehensive management of the assigned region. Position is accountable for the management of the sales organization and process as well as collaboration and coordination with Marketing and Underwriting service deliverables and profitability.

    ACCOUNTABILITIES 50%

    DRIVE FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE OF ASSIGNED REGION

    • Create, manage and meet/exceed annual new business production plan through consistent visibility and developing significant relationships
    • Create, manage and meet/exceed a direct written premium plan through ongoing management
    • Responsible to achieve/exceed profitability in coordination with Underwriting partners
    • Develop and implement an annual regional sales plan in partnership with Underwriting

    MANAGE TERRITORY DISTRIBUTION

    • Recruit, develop and manage regional distribution network to include national and regional brokers, independent agents, aggregators, and wholesalers.
    • Work to position Convelo as a lead partner organization for business that fits Convelo's target market and underwriting appetite including: Non-Profit/Human Services, Education and Religious Organizations.
    • Develop annual agency/broker business plans with select partners and hold accountable through various metrics (submissions, premium commitment, pipeline, etc.)
    • Differentiate distribution support based on agency assessments, including driving production with relationships with aggressive growth potential while also helping to maintain relationships with larger, more-tenured books of business.

    PROVIDE LEADERSHIP OF TERRITORY AND EXPERTISE OF SALES PROCESS & PRODUCTS

    • Takes ownership and sets an example for the organization, in all communications, with high ethical integrity.
    • Learn & provide exceptional knowledge of Convelo's product and appetite while also demonstrating outstanding knowledge of competitors' products.
    • Schedule and run agency visits with distribution partners in an effort to drive production & profitability results.
    • Collaborate with Underwriting on account pipeline development, book roll opportunities and key relationships to proactively manage the sales process.
    • Conduct regular territory reviews with Underwriting with focus on new business, renewal business and profitability performance to plan.
    • Assist in development & understanding of competitors products & pricing strategies in marketplace while also providing "street level" feedback.
    • Develops & adheres to annual regional budget.

    EDUCATION

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in business or related field.
    • Professional designations (CIC, CPCU, ARM) highly desired.

    EXPERIENCE

    • 3 or more years of territory/region management experience.
    • 5-7 years of commercial lines insurance experience; Demonstrates expertise with a variety of sales and insurance concepts, practices, and procedures.
    • Insurance sales and/or agency management experience preferred.
    • Prior underwriting experience preferred.
    • E&S experience a plus.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

    • In-depth knowledge of niche oriented commercial insurance marketing preferably in the non-profit human services/education segments.
    • Demonstrated ability to accept change and lead within a change-oriented environment.
    • Established record of meeting sales goals within a disciplined planning process.
    • Ability to use common and complex concepts, practices and procedures within the Sales and P&C Insurance fields.
    • Convey clear, concise information to others, using verbal or other appropriate communication techniques.
    • Detail oriented; ability to compose correspondence that is factual, well organized and concise, utilizing proper English, grammar, punctuation and spelling.
    • Solid experience with Microsoft Office tools including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Must be able to prepare complex reports, spreadsheets, budgets, and PowerPoint presentations.
    • Comfortable utilizing video conferencing tools and various mobile devices/tablets to accomplish job duties.
    • Perform advanced mathematical calculations/problems (formulas, percentages, spreadsheets, etc.)
    • Analyze data to formulate and prepare budgets and long-range goals
    • Ability to work remotely, utilizing independent judgement and creativity.
    • Frequent overnight travel required.
