    POSITION SUMMARY

    This position supports Lamb Weston's Journey to Zero by providing clear, concise, and relevant leadership to Global Engineering project managers supporting projects across North America. The work also includes developing project concepts and budgets meeting the needs as defined by Lamb Weston Leadership.

    In addition, the successful candidate will monitor the implementation of capital projects and provide guidance and coarse corrections as needed. Elements to be monitored include design, CIR write-ups, preparing and presenting project reviews and presentations, developing contractor bid packages, overseeing project installation, cost tracking, training, and startup assistance as well as post project support are normal work activities.

    The successful applicant will assure delivery of world class projects. Leadership and mentoring of engineering staff are a critical part of this position’s responsibilities. Working closely with the various levels of Procurement, Operations Management, EHSS, Food Protection, Engineering, Continuous Improvement, Plant Staff, and Production Personnel is critical. This position coordinates activities with LW operations and is based out of our Kennewick, Washington, engineering office.

    Position Responsibilities:

    • Provide leadership and support for the Strategic Capital Projects executed in North America.
    • Works closely with Senior Directors in Global Engineering on Lamb Weston scope and implementation of projects.
    • Coordinates with and informs Lamb Weston operations and related/affected groups regarding project approach and status.
    • Collaborates closely with other resources and groups across the platform to ensure projects reflect overall platform objectives. Works alongside other engineering leadership to help achieve overall platform objectives.
    • Operates with a servant leadership approach, with an empowerment and supportive management style
    • Facilitates the development of Project Management skills as part of Global Engineering.
    • Identifies, recruits, hires and develops project management staff to build a positive team culture that leverages resources across the business and supports our operations teams
    • Reflects our LW values, supports our LW vision and helps complete our LW mission.
    • Provides leadership to drive selected corporate initiatives within North America.
    • Develops staff and projects and executes with excellence while demonstrating and practicing the utmost confidentiality.
    • Provides support to the manufacturing facilities through coaching and as a project management resource.
    • Helps ensure Lamb Weston projects reliably achieve performance, quality, schedule, and cost expectations
    • Collaborate closely with procurement leadership to leverage purchasing power.

    Skills Required:

    • Experience and knowledge of industrial plant construction, codes, practices, and engineering requirements are essential.
    • Demonstrated proven leadership of Project Managers.
    • Understanding of IQF (Individually Quick Frozen) potato manufacturing is highly desirable.
    • Experience with plant engineering, maintenance, and operations.
    • Strong leadership, coaching, communication, presentation and negotiating skills
    • Proven success in managing by influence in a matrix organization
    • Excellent organizational and report writing skills.
    • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
    • Knowledge of food manufacturing processes, regulations, and requirements.
    • Knowledge of Lamb Weston specific operations processes and programs is a benefit.
    • Proficient using Microsoft office suite, including MS Project and functional use of AutoCAD applications.

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum of 10 years engineering, industrial capital project experience, and plant leadership.
    • 7 years or more of direct Project Management experience, with projects exceeding $200MM.
    • 5 or more years of direct leadership of people.
    • Project Management Professional Certification highly desirable

    Education:

    • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Master’s degree preferred 
    • Professional Engineering license (one state minimum) that is in good standing is preferred
