    Flexible position8-12 hours/month

    Basic Purpose

    To review and manage all medication regimes and administration charting at a minimum of once a month for all residents who receive medication administration through the medication administration program in accordance with each resident’s PCSP. The Registered Nurse will perform all expected duties within the parameters of his/her license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Louisiana; to support the mission and philosophy of BSE, Inc.

    Major Duties & Responsibilities

    I. All medication regimes and administration charting shall be reviewed by a licensed RN at least monthly to:

    A. To determine the appropriateness of the medication regime.

    B. Evaluate Contraindications.

    C. Evaluate the need for lab monitoring.

    D. Make referrals to the primary care physician for needed monitoring tests.

    E. Report the efficacy of the medications prescribed and

    F. Determine if medications are properly being administered in the ARCP.

    II. Observer Federal, State, and Local Laws/Regulations and Administrative Policies of Assisted Living at Lambeth House.

    A. Maintain a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Louisiana.

    B. Maintain records of controlled substances.

    C. Ensure that a physician’s order is obtained for all medications, diets, and treatments administered to residents.

    D. Complete a minimum of 12 hours of continuing education annually.

    E. Ensure that he/she is familiar with fire and disaster plans; when to evacuate.

    Minimal Qualifications

    A. Graduation from a state accredited school of Nursing.

    B. Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Louisiana.

    C. Continuing education as required by the Louisiana State Board of examiners for Registered Nurses. (5 Hours)

    D. Good physical and mental health.

    E. Ability to apply and execute orders of physicians within the limitations of educational background/licensure, and with an understanding of the cause and effect of such action.

    F. Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, residents, families, physicians, and the public.

    G. Freedom from communicable disease

    H. Must maintain a current CPR Certification.

    Typical Physical Demands

    A. Must be able to lift/push at least thirty-five (35) pounds.

    B. Must be able to maneuver medication cart throughout the unit.

    C. Must be able to bend, turn, sit, and stand as needed to care for residents.

    D. Must be able to read and write as necessary to complete necessary communication.
