    Job Description

    Rees Broome is seeking a skilled and motivated Land Use and Zoning attorney with a minimum of 3 years of experience to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in land use, zoning regulations, and real estate law, specifically within the context of Maryland's rules and regulations. This position involves providing legal counsel and representation to clients, including developers, municipalities, and property owners regarding land use planning, zoning compliance, and related legal matters.

    Key Responsibilities:

    · Advise clients on land use and zoning issues, ensuring compliance with Maryland state and local regulations.

    · Draft and review legal documents, including zoning applications, development agreements, and land use permits in accordance with Maryland law.

    · Represent clients in hearings and proceedings before zoning boards, planning commissions, and other governmental agencies within Maryland.

    · Conduct research on land use laws, zoning regulations, and case law pertinent to Maryland to provide informed legal opinions.

    · Collaborate with clients, urban planners, and other stakeholders to facilitate development projects and resolve zoning disputes.

    · Negotiate terms of land use agreements and easements with opposing parties.

    · Stay updated on changes in Maryland land use and zoning laws and regulations.

    · Prepare and present legal arguments and strategies in administrative and court proceedings.

    · Assist in community outreach and public meetings related to land use projects.

    Qualifications:

    · Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

    · Admission to the Maryland bar and a strong understanding of Maryland's land use and zoning regulations.

    · Minimum of 3 years of experience in land use, zoning, or real estate law.

    · Extensive knowledge of Maryland state and local land use regulations and compliance requirements.

    · Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.

    · Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects.

    · Proven track record of representing clients effectively in administrative hearings and litigation.

    · Strong research skills and attention to detail.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    · Experience working with Maryland governmental agencies and a deep understanding of local planning processes.

    · Knowledge of environmental regulations in Maryland and their impact on land use.

    · Familiarity with sustainable development practices and community planning initiatives.
