    Covia is looking for a dynamic APPLICATIONS ARCHITECT who will have a positive impact on the INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY team at its INDEPENDENCE, OH location. The Application Architect plays an important role in the design and analysis of software projects. They create new applications, improve existing applications, run software tests, develop product prototypes and create technical documents and manuals relating to application development. They need to evaluate application technologies and make recommendations for best uses for the company.

     

     

    Core skill/tool sets include the .NET development stack, C#, SQL, ASP.NET and DotNet Core libraries, and Azure DevOps. Solid familiarity with contemporary software design/development tools and best practices.

     

     

    THE SUCCESSFUL INCUMBENT WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

     

    • Collaborate with other professionals to determine functional and non-functional requirements for new software or applications
    • Use tools and methodologies to create representations for functions and user interface of desired product
    • Develop high-level product specifications with attention to system integration and feasibility
    • Define all aspects of development from appropriate technology and workflow to coding standards
    • Communicate successfully all concepts and guidelines to development team
    • Oversee progress of development team to ensure consistency with initial design
    • Provide technical guidance and coaching to developers and engineers
    • Ensure software meets all requirements of quality, security, modifiability, extensibility etc.
    • Approve final product before launch
    • Assure Regulatory Compliance - Adhere to IT Risk Assurance and General Controls Program Guidelines. Shared responsibility in the planning, design, implementation, management and support of Business Continuity and Recovery Services Program

     

     

    THE SUCCESSFUL INCUMBENT WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Four-year college degree in computer science/engineering or equivalent work experience
    • 5+ years’ experience developing .NET based web and console app software solutions
    • Fluent with Microsoft Visual Studio, SQL Management Studio, Azure DevOps, and GIT version control
    • Knowledge of relational database design and management techniques.
    • Technically fluent in multiple programming languages including C#, JavaScript, and TSQL
    • Experience developing and consuming REST API’s, JSON based solutions and associated prototyping/testing tools (e.g. Google PostMan, SwaggerHub).
    • Previous team lead and/or direct supervisory experience required
    • Collaborative experience working with BA’s and subject domain experts to create design specifications from functional requirements
    • Ability to work efficiently and independent of direct supervision to meet deadlines and answer support related inquiries promptly
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive internal and external information
    • Prolonged sitting, occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing and/or walking
    • 5% -15% required travel
