Design Group is recruiting for a Merchandising Assistant in our NYC location. WHAT WILL I DO IN THIS ROLE? There are two key components to this position; the creative piece which includes maintaining the merchandising room and the analytical piece which includes analyzing data, proofreading documents, working with spreadsheets, and maintaining the visual/electronic library.  RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Maintain croquis templates specific to each brand keeping sizing, license, catalog section, and logo tables current.
    • Liaison with Design to fill in initial croquis with specifications related to item set up after Line Select.
    • Prepare and proofread final croquis from Design after patternmaking and publish to Production server.
    • Complete factsheets with all specification required for item master in ERP system (JD Edwards) as final croquis are complete.
    • Maintain all product database on excel spreadsheet format.
    • Maintain store promotion calendars, worksheets, reports, and ads.
    • Request print quotes for all printed materials such as catalogs, box out displays, and guidecards.
    • Prepare catalog purchase orders.
    • Handle Factsheets, communicate production changes and manage workflow for all UK Magazine Publishers orders.
    • Liaison with Customer Service to set up items for Independent Pattern Companies print orders.
    • Maintain product library.
    • Heavy proofreading of all departmental spreadsheets and reports.
    • Assist with product changeovers for store assortments.
    • Assist with data needed for sales reports.
    • Assist with line plan, social media feedback, and best seller presentations.

    WHAT SKILLS DO I NEED? Someone with experience working in a fashion house and/or someone with sewing experience would be a good fit for this role. Recent college grads with a merchandising focus will be considered. QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Merchandising, Marketing, or other relevant field or equivalent on-the-job training.
    • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
    • Prior experience with data entry in which speed and accuracy were measured.
    • Strong proofreading skills.
    • Ability to lift and move boxes up to 30 pounds.

    REQUIRED EDUCATION

    • Minimum Required: A related associates (or relevant current industry license or certification) and 4000 verified occupational/industry hours within 7 years;

    • OR, a related Bachelor’s or any Master’s degree with 18 discipline related credits and 2000 verified occupational/industry hours within 7 years. 

      RELATED DEGREE, CREDENTIAL, AND/OR OCCUPATIONAL EXPERIENCE IN: Computer Information Systems, Computer Networking, Computer Science, Computing, Information Technology, Computer Systems Analyst, Software Systems Developer, Web Developer, Database Administrator, Network Systems Administrator.
