    Purpose

    The Landscape Architect develops accurate and creative landscape solutions tailored to various site conditions and client preferences. This role involves meeting clients, guiding them through the design process from concept to completion, maintaining client communication, and managing project timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Responsibilities include site analysis, preparing construction documents, and coordinating with interdisciplinary teams to deliver cohesive projects.

    Required Experience, Education, Certification, & Licensure

    Minimum of 5 years of experience overseeing projects from design to completion.

    Professional degree (Bachelor’s or higher) in Landscape Architecture from an accredited program.

    Professional licensure in Landscape Architecture in Minnesota (required).

    Roles & Responsibilities

    Client Engagement

    Meet with clients to understand objectives and develop creative landscape design ideas.

    Prepare, present, and sell design deliverables to clients and builders.

    Maintain and develop client and builder relationships.

    Project Management

    Lead planning and design for multiple projects concurrently.

    Ensure quality control throughout all phases of design development.

    Coordinate with builders, architects, engineers, and vendors to achieve project goals.

    Efficiently manage time and priorities throughout the creative process.

    Design & Development

    Conduct site evaluations, analyze potential, and ensure regulatory compliance.

    Create compelling conceptual landscape plans with appropriate layout and flow.

    Prepare detailed construction documents and specifications, including:

    Base plans

    Grading and drainage

    Planting and lighting plans

    Site details

    Demonstrate knowledge of:

    Horticulture and plant identification

    Landscape features such as patios, retaining walls, pools, kitchens, pergolas, lighting, and water features.

    Work through design iterations and produce creative, attractive designs in various styles.

    Create comprehensive landscape project estimates using LMN software.

    Additional Responsibilities

    Utilize aerial imagery, surveys, and online mapping tools for property data collection.

    Maintain knowledge of building regulations, municipal codes, conservation regulations, and MnDNR restrictions.

    Network and develop industry relationships through events, peer groups, and conferences.

    Participate in staff and interdisciplinary team meetings to organize workloads and assignments.

    Assist in business development activities and attend internal training and weekly scheduling meetings.

    Work Environment

    Typical office setting with frequent interaction with staff and clients.

    Routine travel within the seven-county metro area.

    Deadlines typically fall within normal business hours, supporting work-life balance.

    Prolonged periods of sitting, typing, and viewing digital or written materials, with occasional interruptions.
