JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Landscaper Worker (Groundskeeping)
Non-Exempt
DEPARTMENT: Maintenance Department (Groundskeeping/Landscaping Division)
Supervisor: Assistant Maintenance Manager
This Maintenance Worker (Groundskeeping) position is located in the Green Run Homes Association Maintenance Department (Groundskeeping/Landscaping Division). The Association is a self-managed, non-profit organization responsible for the property management and promotion of member’s recreation, health, safety, and welfare. The Maintenance Division is responsible for maintaining Community amenities to include a Clubhouse, swimming pools and associated facilities, a tennis court, parks and playgrounds, walking trails, and roughly 200 acres of common area or "green belt" including 5.5 miles of canals with 11 miles of shoreline. Maintaining Association owned amenities and properties has a direct effect on the aesthetics of the Community, property values, and quality of life in Green Run.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The incumbent reports directly to the Assistant Maintenance Manager and takes direction from a team leader. He/she performs work in the maintenance, care, and modification of Association owned grounds and landscapes which includes the operation of electrically-powered and gasoline-powered equipment and machines, and the use of small hand and power tools or equipment in planting, cultivating, and trimming grounds and landscaping. Specific tasks and duties include:
a. Works to complete planned jobs to maintain common areas in accordance with Team Leader direction. Follows established safety measures and wearing of proper personal protective equipment during operations.
Mow, edge, and fertilize lawns
Weed and mulch landscape beds
Trim hedges, shrubs, and small trees
Remove dead, damaged, or unwanted trees
Plant flowers, trees, and shrubs
Water lawns, landscapes, and gardens
Monitor and maintain plant health
Obtains and follows employee safety and operational training with the use of Manufacturer’s Equipment Manuals/procedures and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for hazardous material use.
Performs other duties as assigned.
May have to work off hours due to storms (ie snow, hurricanes, severe weather)
a. High School Diploma or GED
b. Must possess a valid Driver’s License with a clean record.
c. Knowledge of operating maintenance equipment
a. Work conducted in indoor and outdoor environments.
b. Requires the ability to lift and carry supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 100 pounds (two-man lift) on an occasional basis, prolonged walking or standing, and frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching on a daily basis. Requires a full range of physical motion in order to operate manual, electrically-powered and/or gasoline-powered groundskeeping equipment and machines. Requires the ability to access facilities and areas which may only be accessible by climbing stairs or by climbing ladders to a height of 20 feet (e.g., for tree trimming).
c. May be designated as essential employee who must report to work as scheduled when offices are closed due to severe weather,
d. Exposed to noise hazardous environment.
e. Ability to successfully and safely conduct essential work functions consistent with federal, state, and local standards.
f. Ability to maintain regular, punctual, and reliable attendance consistent with other federal, state, and local standards.
