    What We’re Looking For

    Valley Craft Industries is in search of a laser operator. This position will set up, operate, maintain and clean the laser machine to cut parts that meet or exceed Valley Craft quality standards in a safe and efficient manner. Strong communication and interaction skills are needed. Troubleshooting and critical thinking skills are essential to develop solutions to problems that arise, while organizational skills are necessary to ensure work is done correctly, on time, and properly documented.

    What You’ll Do

    Under the direct supervision of the department supervisor/team lead, you will operate, maintain and clean the laser machine.

    What We Need From You

    Load and unload steel to and from the laser, sort parts as determined by the needs of the internal customer

    Inspect products that are produced and clean as needed to ensure no defects are passed on

    Responsible for quality control of product you produce. Make adjustments as necessary to ensure product is within desired specifications and reject product that is outside of desired specifications

    Notify Lead or other persons necessary if a safety or quality issue arises

    Oversee daily and weekly maintenance on equipment to ensure it is in good working condition

    Responsible to maintain a clean and safe work area to the standards set by the area lead

    Be cooperative, positive, and respectful with coworkers and lead

    Assist with inventory cycle counts for your respective raw materials

    Train in new employees and assist with monitoring their quality

    Ensure all safety policies are followed, wear personal protective equipment and hold a high regard for the safety of others

    Responsible to inform the supervisor of any concerns that arise

    Participate in proper ergonomic practices as designed for this position

    Continuously seek out opportunities for self-improvement

    Assist in other areas as needed

    Education/Experience And Must Haves

    1 – 3 years of experience

    Knowledge of metalworking industry, equipment, and processes

    Mechanical experience

    Forklift experience required

    Experience in use of hoist and other material moving equipment (floor jacks, etc.)

    Basic knowledge of electrical/hydraulic and mechanical components

    Knowledge of production processes related to warehouse equipment, material and product

    Ability to follow a schedule and to work as a team with the area lead to reach daily production goal

    Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to the trade

    Ability to read and interpret blueprints and have basic math skills

    Good organizational skills with attention to detail

    Strong communication skills (verbal, listening, written)

    Ability to work on a team and independently

    Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check

    Physical Requirements

    Must be able to sit, stand, kneel, stoop, walk, or sit for long periods of time.

    Must be capable of working in inclement conditions to include extreme hot and cold temperatures.

    Must be able to work with arms above waist level

    Physical effort- ability to lift up to 1OOlbs., frequently bend, twist, endure long periods of repetitive motion and stand on feet for 95% of the shift
