Job Brief
The Machinist II position is responsible for operating at least 1 line of production equipment (CNC / Conventional Mill / Lathe) in a safe manner and in accordance with standard operating procedures with no direct supervision.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate a computer numerical control (CNC) machine to produce machine parts by performing the following duties with no direct supervision.
- Reviewing work orders, engineering drawings, surface locations, machining parameters; interprets geometric dimensions and tolerances.
- Under no supervision sets tool registers and offsets; calculates requirements using basic math.
- Under no supervision, sets up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three and four jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers.
- Maintains specifications by observing operations; detecting malfunctions; inspecting parts to close tolerances; adjusting offsets; replacing tooling.
- Understands and interprets aspects of program and how it relates to machining processes.
- Ability to provide guidance, advice, training, and limited direction at times to lesser experienced machinists.
- Utilize ERP for system entries and job tracking.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working as a machinist for a manufacturer.
- Intermediate skills and knowledge using tools for manufacturing such as drill press, lathe, mill, or vertical or horizontal cut off saw.
- Mechanical aptitude with a basic understanding of fitment as it relates to parts manufacturing and assembly.
- Experience in evaluating quality through inspection, controls, and instruments (caliper and micrometers).
- Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds unassisted.
- Ability to stand for 8 hours.
