    Job Description

    Growing government contractor looking to hire a Sr. Systems Engineer to their team. 

    RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Provide day-to-day operational support of web-hosting activities (iis/Apache) and work on a variety of projects designed to improve the firm’s back-end infrastructure.
    • Maintain a highly virtualized (VMware 6.X) Enterprise environment with new system builds, configuration for new hosting applications, maintenance, upgrades and patching of systems. 
    • Follow VMware best-practices management and maintenance procedures to provide maximum uptime of the virtualized systems and applications. 
    • Monitor servers and applications to ensure high availability, usability and security. 
    • Provide server and network administration and other related support, including maintenance and operation of a diverse array of Windows and Linux servers (Knowledge of WordPress is a plus). 
    • Follow security best practices to maintain a stable and highly secure IT environment. 
    • Develop and maintain working knowledge on a wide range of Enterprise applications and systems to include Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, GPO, IIS, SharePoint in clustered and non-clustered configurations. 
    • Work directly and effectively with other teams in troubleshooting problems and finding solutions. 
    • Utilize ticket queues to address all server and application issues in a timely manner, recording solutions, and escalating tickets as required. 
    • Participate in on-call rotation, ensuring uptime of critical servers, networks, and applications. 
    • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and other technical documentation for operational tasks. 
    • Manage complex problems through to a successful conclusion.
    • Understanding and experience of public and hybrid cloud solutions such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is a plus.
    • Evaluate and recommend changes to improve and optimize system infrastructure.
    • Creating and managing automation processes, deployments and packaging.

     

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

    • 6+ years experience working with windows technologies and design/implementation (Windows OS 2008, 2012, 2016, 2019, Domain Controllers, AD trust, DHCP, DNS, IIS, GPO, & Clustering).
    • 6+ years extensive administrative experience with VMware virtual infrastructure in an enterprise environment.
    • 6+ years experience working with Storage Technologies (Nimble preferred)
    • 3+ years experience with Cisco UCS is a must.
    • Experience with cloud solutions (AWS, Azure or GCP) preferred.
    • Experience with Backup and restores (Veeam/Symantec Backup Exec)
    • Working in-depth knowledge of Email MTA (DKIM/SPF/DMARC/MX records)
    • Linux experience is preferred (CentOS)
    • Ability to work independently, prioritize existing projects, and proactively determine areas requiring additional attention in a high-pressure environment.
    • Work well in a team environment, engage in knowledge sharing and backup support for other team members.
    • Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule (on-call rotation and nights/weekends as needed)
    • Highly self-motivated, willingness to learn new skills and technologies.
    • Understanding of PCI/SBOX compliance.

     

    CERTIFICATION: MCSE, VCP, Linux, AWS, Azure or GCP certification preferred or equivalent experience.
