POSITION SUMMARY
Laugh Out Loud is looking for an all-star Staff Accountant to manage all accounting functions across all platforms for LOL. Reporting to the company's SVP, FINANCE AND OPERATIONS, you will help manage all efforts to optimize our internal accounting infrastructure and systems while managing the day-to-day operations of the business.
You will be accountable for month-end close, project accounting, accounts receivable and payable, implementing new financial systems and assisting in GAAP financial reporting. You will be a catalyst in transformation, taking the accounting department to the next level as the business continues to scale. You will provide sound business judgment, strategic thinking, and broad financial and business perspective across the organization. This role will work cross functionally in a supporting capacity to teams across all departments

SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build and support the necessary in-house accounting infrastructure to provide detailed and regular visibility into the financial health of the business (i.e. accounting software, AR/AP, cash forecast, dashboards, etc.)
- Manage the financial books and records, including maintenance of general ledger and sub-ledger systems, manage all journal entries, accruals, reserves, account reconciliations, depreciation/amortization and internal cost allocations
- Research US GAAP and applicable rules and regulations,
- Assist with Balance Sheet analysis and related reconciliations, including flux analysis on balance movements from period to period
- Evaluate opportunities for scale and growth and consider ways to drive efficiency, streamline accounting processes and automation.
- Improve cash forecasting that drive efficient planning on cash management
- Manage full cycle A/P processing (matching, batching, and coding) including cost allocation among separate platforms
- Ensure the company is billing and collecting from customers on a timely basis
- Perform detailed review of financial results during the month-end close process, to ensure accuracy and completeness of actual results vs budget/forecast
- Maintain adequate levels of information support for accounting transactions
- Establish, maintain, and continually improve accounting policies and related internal controls
- Support with external audit and tax requirements
- Support the team on ad-hoc projects and analysis
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA license preferred but not required
- Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of management
- 2+ years of overall accounting experience with recent experience in a similar role
- Familiar with using Net Suite, Bill.com and Concur.
- Exposure in the Entertainment & Media space is preferred
- Experience working for a public accounting firm preferred
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP accounting standards and ability to assess, analyze and thoroughly document accounting positions
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to manipulate spreadsheets, create pivot tables and summarize data from multiple sources
- Ability to understand the “whole picture” and the reasoning behind the tasks that are performed
- Strong analytical thinking is required
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while multitasking with attention to detail, accuracy, and excellent follow-up
- Most importantly, a strong sense of accountability and has a “whatever it takes to get things done” mentality; results-oriented
