The integration and strategic planning efforts undertaken by Global Communities and PCI over the last year has reinforced the importance of empowering and enhancing the capacity of local actors and local leadership as a driving force for change, and towards greater localization and decentralization of our work. This has been reflected throughout the strategic plan, as well as in the creation of a new department – OSIIL (Office of Strategic Information, Innovation and Learning), within which the local capacity strengthening team will reside.

Preliminary research has been done to benchmark the approach, structure and systems that support a variety of partnership models with local partners, as well as to cultivate a continuous stream of new products and services that can be scaled to support local capacity strengthening and localization efforts.  This internship will conduct research that validates or challenges assumptions and informs the structure, approach and systems moving forward.
