    JOB SUMMARY:

    Act as a technical advisor to Strike Group staff N6. Support the Carrier Strike Group and/or the Expeditionary Strike Group /Amphibious ready Group Staff during installation and testing of C4ISR systems. Provide end-to-end technical support for C4ISR, RF, and IT systems; assist CSG/ESG and others staffs with speed-to-capability technology insertions; provide feedback to COMSPAWAR/PEO C4I/PEO EIS on system performance, design and logistics issues. 

    RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

    • Provide underway end-to-end C4I system support on U.S. Navy (USN) and Coalition platforms.
    • Will act as Senior Technical Advisor to numbered Fleet, Carrier Strike Group (CSG), Expeditionary Strike Group (ESG) (when embarked) and Amphibious Ready Group Staff N6s and/or command ships during all phases of the Operational Fleet Response Plan (OFRP). 
    • Provide end-to-end technical subject matter expertise to sustain and when able repair fielded C4ISR systems. 
    • Support includes system optimization, troubleshooting and Speed-to-Capability (STC) technology insertion.
    • Provide technical subject matter expertise to the embarked strike group and platform crew during CSG/ESG/ARG workups and during deployed operations.
    • Platforms supported include Force and Unit Level ships and Military Sealift Command ships during operations, exercises, Defense Support to Civil Agencies and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations. 
    • Communicate status of system casualties affecting mission capabilities to the FRD Program Management team and CB-ISEA SMEs as casualties occur via email message and/or a Daily Status Report. 
    • Provide support to operational Fleet customers throughout the OFRP Training cycle. 
    • Provide systems engineering support to Fleet customers during fleet exercises and operations conducted by Fleet Commanders and/or Joint Task Force (JTF) Commanders. 
    • Support planning, implementation and troubleshooting for joint command and control applications, tactical data links and Global Command and Control System - Maritime operations, Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD), and other supporting technologies used by Naval Commands serving as or supporting a Joint Task Force (JTF). 
    • Provide subject matter expertise in support of platform readiness assessments to include data collection, predictive analytics modeling and reporting. 
    • May include trips to overseas locations to embark on naval ships for periods up to ten weeks with a periodicity of two to three instances a year.

      

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Working knowledge of Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), CISCO Adaptive Security Appliance and CISCO Wireless LAN Controller (WLC) administration.
    • Four (4) years of direct experience with maintenance of Navy Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services (CANES) or four (4) years of Tier III/IV network maintenance experience with Navy ship to shore networks or relevant DoD network architectures. 
    • Deployable to support Navy operational requirements, exercise support and other projects to meet the needs of the Navy.  
    • Must be experienced in some of the following required: Active Directory, Group Policies, Exchange 2003/2007, ISA/TMG server application, Alcatel Switches 700/6800, CISCO routers and switches. VMWare, NetApp, and/or IBM Storage.
    • Familiarity with configuring/troubleshooting servers, CISCO Routers/Switches or Alcatel Switches, CISCO Access Control Lists, TCP/IP, and security protocols required.
    • Knowledge of Command and Control display systems such as GCCS-M and/or DCGS-N preferred.
    • Experience Information Assurance – HBSS, McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator and eEYE Retina Scanning tools/ACAS, WSUS required.
    • Excellent written and verbal communications skills required
    • Experience using Remedy for ticket documentation/resolution desired.
    • General experience with RF systems required.
    • Must be able to communicate well with senior Navy officials and technical personnel.
    • Must be able to provide OJT to technical personnel and review/understand technical documentation.
    • Must be able to troubleshoot end-to-end connectivity involving multiple site and systems.

     

    EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information System or in Information Technology or relevant degree.
    • Or six (6) years of direct experience with maintenance and sustainment of Navy afloat networks. 
    • Must have a SECRET clearance with eligibility for a TOP SECRET clearance
    • Certification as IAT2 (per DoD Inst 8750.1 and Navy requirements) with appropriate IA certification required, and computing environment certification highly desired.
