    Job Summary: The Laundry Attendant is responsible for collecting, washing, drying, folding, ironing, and distributing residents' personal clothing, linens, towels, and facility laundry. This position helps maintain a clean, comfortable, and safe environment for residents while ensuring laundry is handled with care, accuracy, and confidentiality.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Collect soiled linens, towels, and residents' personal clothing from designated areas.

    Sort laundry according to fabric type, color, and washing instructions.

    Operate commercial washers, dryers, and other laundry equipment safely and efficiently.

    Fold, hang, iron, and organize clean laundry for distribution.

    Deliver clean linens and residents' clothing to the appropriate rooms and departments.

    Label and track residents' personal clothing to minimize lost items.

    Inspect laundry for stains, damage, or needed repairs and report concerns to the supervisor.

    Maintain adequate inventory of linens and notify the supervisor when supplies are low.

    Clean and sanitize laundry equipment and work areas according to infection control standards.

    Follow all safety procedures, OSHA guidelines, and facility policies.

    Handle residents' belongings respectfully and maintain confidentiality.

    Assist housekeeping with other cleaning duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    High school diploma or GED preferred.

    Previous laundry or housekeeping experience in a healthcare, assisted living, or hospitality setting is preferred but not required.

    Ability to operate commercial laundry equipment.

    Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.

    Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

    Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently and as part of a team.

    Physical Requirements

    Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

    Frequently lift and carry up to 30 pounds; occasionally up to 50 pounds with assistance.

    Ability to bend, stoop, reach, push, and pull laundry carts.

    Ability to work in a warm, humid environment.

    Work Environment

    Indoor laundry facility within an assisted living community.

    Exposure to cleaning chemicals, detergents, heat, and noise from commercial equipment.

    Weekend, holiday, and flexible scheduling may be required.
