Our firm is growing, and looking for a Criminal Defense Attorney who is a passionate defender of clients' best interests in the courtroom. The Law Office of Patrick J. McLain, PLLC represents clients who have been accused of or charged with serious state and federal crimes throughout the Dallas area. Job Summary: Under the direction of the Managing Attorney/Law Firm Owner, you must have the ability to work effectively as a team member while also handling an individual caseload. You must have a strong commitment to achieving excellent results for clients with integrity and through creative and zealous advocacy. You have an exceptional work ethic, high motivation, and willingness to work hard to serve clients. You present a positive attitude and ability to work well with a variety of people. You demonstrate leadership skills and possess excellent oral advocacy skills, thorough writing skills, and relationship building skills. Responsibilities: • Manage significant caseload from inception through closing • Develop case strategy and independently handle day-to-day decision-making on a case-by-case basis • Effectively interview clients and witnesses • Regularly consult with clients and opposing counsel to effectively move cases forward • Prepare for and attend hearings and trials, ensuring all deadlines are calendared accurately and met in a timely fashion • Build a strong relationship with the team and foster an excellent rapport Qualifications: • 5+ years courtroom experience in criminal law • Written and Oral communications • Motion and other legal case document drafting • Legal research and technical skills • Administrative Law procedure • Graduate from an accredited law school and be licensed to practice law • Be in good standing with the State Bar of Texas Preferred but not required: • Appellate experience • Experience working with public defender/government offices Compensation: $90,000 - $120,000 yearly
