This is a role for an Associate who can hit the ground running and who meets the criteria set forth below. Responsibilities: This Associate will be responsible for all aspects of clients’ matters including: • Estate Planning, Special Needs Planning, and Trust Administration • Conducting initial consultations and devising strategies  • Delegating work to paralegals and legal assistants and monitoring their work • Preparing documents for sophisticated Estate and Special Needs Plans  • Preparing Petitions for Instructions or Trust Modification • Preparing and/or overseeing Trust Administration from beginning through Trustee Final Report and Accounting • Leading and participating in the initial and final meetings with clients • Cultivating relationships with the Firm’s existing and future clients by maintaining consistent and timely communication Court-Supervised Trust Administration : • Appearing at OSC/review hearings as they pertain to the Court and/or Compromise matters, as necessary • Appearing at hearings, including accounting hearings, as scheduled, and completing hearing memo • Preparing checklist for documents and information needed for matter • Managing paralegal’s processing of matter • Communicating with Trustee and interested parties redistributions and administrative matters • Communicating with personal injury and/or firms, Clients, and/or other interested parties, as necessary, during the process • Reviewing and editing pleadings, account schedules, Trustee Fee Declarations, etc., including reviewing all information and documents in the case file • Reviewing probate notes and addressing notes, as needed • Coordinating billing for matter Probates, Conservatorships, and Settlement Trusts: • Communicating with personal injury/medical malpractice firms, clients, probate referees, court-supervised attorneys, and/or other interested parties re intake of matter, drafting, and/or Compromise matters, as necessary • Preparing checklist for documents and information needed for matter • Managing paralegal’s processing of matter • Communicating with personal injury/medical malpractice firms, clients, probate referees, court-supervised attorneys, and/or other interested parties as necessary during the process • Reviewing and editing pleadings, including reviewing all information and documents in the case file • Reviewing tentative rulings/probate notes • Appearing at hearings and complete hearing memo • Coordinating billing for matters Qualifications: • Has four (4) to seven (7) years experience in at least two of the following areas: Estate Planning, Special Needs Planning, Trust Administration, Conservatorships and/or Probate • Is licensed with the California State Bar • Is comfortable being the clients’ primary point of contact • Has the capacity to handle matters and clients independently (after a period of orientation and monitored work) • Shows compassion when dealing with clients and has a talent for winning their confidence and respect • Is willing to work hard to see that clients receive top-notch service and results • Has strong computer skills with extensive experience using MS Office Suite, timekeeping, and case management software • Is someone of character with intelligence and grit, and who will contribute positively to the atmosphere within the office Compensation: $80,000 yearly, plus performance bonuses
