Job Description
Law firm is seeking a committed attorney with 1-2 years Immigration experience to join our office. Ideal candidate must be a highly motivated self-starter, possesses impeccable organizational skills, is detail-oriented and has the ability to prioritize a full case load. Candidate must have experience preparing legal packets, letters, declarations, submissions, motions and have strong legal research and legal writing skills. Bilingual in English and Spanish is a must.
Job duties will also include and are not limited to:
Appearing before EOIR, representing clients in removal proceedings (detained & non-detained dockets) with all applications for relief
Representing clients in bond hearings
Representing clients before USCIS & ICE
Prepare filings and represent clients in probate/family court in SIJS matters
Appearing before the Asylum Office
Communicating and working closely with clients
Visiting detained clients - must be available to travel to immigration courts & detention centers outside of California
Reviewing and analyzing forms of relief for individuals in detention
Corresponding with criminal attorneys, public defenders, law enforcement agencies, medical organizations, etc. to obtain necessary evidence and advocate for clients
Working closely with office staff in case/file preparation- must be a team player
Keep track of calendaring tasks and prioritizing assignments in order to meet deadlines
Provide legal and organizational assistance to senior attorney
Other tasks as needed and assigned
Criminal court experience a plus
Salary: $70,000.00 to $80,000.00 /year - commensurate with experience
