    Our law firm is seeking a family attorney who can assist our clients in navigating the sensitive legal issues of family law, including child custody, child abuse, and domestic violence. Job seekers should be equally familiar with prenuptial agreements, divorce, alimony, child support, and real estate, and be able to effectively engage in oral debate and negotiation even in highly stressful and emotional situations. Responsibilities: • Communicate with senior partners and paralegals to move effectively through the civil litigation process • Organize and maintain client files to ensure they are kept current • Handle the division of marital assets, including real estate, during divorce proceedings as needed • Ensure clients are effectively represented at court hearings as needed • Assist clients effectively by understanding their needs analyzing the situation then strategizing and deciding on a proper course of action Qualifications: Extra consideration for those with a criminal justice background Must have worked on family law issues for at least 1-2 years; handling of real estate also required Proven record of success in advocating for plaintiffs and defendants Active member of the ABA (American Bar Association) Candidates should be great negotiators and communicators, specifically in situations when emotions and stress are high • Minimum of 8 years of family law experience • Licensed to practice law - and in good standing - in the state of New York. (If you are licensed in Connecticut too, that’s a bonus!) • Detail-oriented • Forward-thinking • Positive attitude • Optimistic outlook • Inspires confidence in others • Organized and efficient • Able to work productively in a fast-paced environment • Excellent client relations skills • Sound judgment and decision-making skills • Must be proficient in performing legal research and writing • Must be proficient in drafting pleadings, briefs, affidavits, discovery, proposed orders, as well as correspondence and memoranda • Must be well-versed in the rules of evidence, introducing evidence, and civil procedure • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and cases Compensation: $90,000 - $130,000 yearly DOE - Signing bonus available for the successful candidate
