Lawn Doctor of East Puyallup‑Bonney Lake‑Maple Valley is seeking a Marketing & Community Engagement Intern for a 6‑month paid internship to help grow brand awareness through design, social media, video, and creative community “Parketing” activities. This is a hands‑on role ideal for a student or early‑career marketer who wants real‑world experience with a growing, community‑focused lawn care brand.
What you will do
Design, create, and distribute advertising and customer communication materials (signs, flyers, door hangers, postcards, email content, basic graphics) that align with our brand and seasonal services.
Manage a simple content calendar and create/schedule posts on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, including short‑form videos, Reels, and stories that highlight our culture, services, and environmental stewardship.
Capture photo and video content in the field and at the shop, and edit into short videos that showcase our team, lawns, customer education, and environmental concerns (water use, responsible product use, pollinator awareness, etc.).
Community “Parketing” and events
Help plan and coordinate “Parketing” activities such as Park and Waves, mascot appearances, and other creative visibility tactics at community hot spots in our service area.
Support the scheduling, set‑up, and on‑site presence for local community events, farmers markets, and festivals (booth materials, handouts, photo ops with the mascot, collecting leads).
Assist with tracking event participation, leads, and engagement so the team can evaluate which activities drive the most awareness and inquiries.
Skills you’ll use and learn
Basic design skills using tools like Canva, Adobe Express, or similar to create simple, on‑brand marketing pieces.
Social media best practices: writing engaging captions, choosing hooks, using hashtags, monitoring comments/DMs, and reporting simple metrics (views, engagement, follower growth).
Practical, local‑business marketing: how to combine door‑to‑door materials, digital channels, and in‑person events into a simple, seasonal marketing plan for a service business.
Requirements and details
Current student or recent graduate in marketing, communications, digital media, or a related field preferred, or demonstrable interest in social media and content creation.
Comfort being on camera and filming others, plus basic photo/video editing skills on phone or desktop apps.
Strong communication, reliability, and willingness to occasionally work evenings or weekends for community events (with advance notice).
6‑month internship, part‑time schedule to be agreed upon (e.g., 10–20 hours/week), with a mix of remote work and on‑site time in Buckley and surrounding communities.
Flexible work from home options available.
